About

Our APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) allows you to programmatically access New York Times data for use in your own applications. Our goal is to facilitate a wide range of uses, from custom link lists to complex visualizations. Why just read the news when you can hack it? NYT currently has ten public APIs, archive, article search, books, most popular, semantic, Times Newswire, TimesTags, and top stories. We've designed our APIs for the web developer community, but all non-commercial users are welcome. Like many organizations, we hope to encourage innovation through collaboration. When you build applications, create mashups, and otherwise reveal the potential of our data, we learn more about what our readers want and gain insight into how news and information can be reimagined. We're hoping you'll show us what's next for The Times. Our APIs use a RESTful style and a resource-oriented architecture. Calls are made via HTTPS requests.

About

The News API provides RESTful JSON endpoints that let you search and retrieve top stories, real-time feeds, and historical news data from over 40,000 sources across more than 50 countries, indexing over one million new articles weekly in 30+ languages. Its API supports full-text searches of titles and article content and lets you filter results by country, language, category, source, publication date, and more. Leveraging state-of-the-art caching technology for exceptional response times, each request returns structured metadata (total matches, pagination) alongside detailed article fields, UUID, title, description, snippet, URL, image URL, language, publication timestamp, source, and categories. With a simple HTTP GET interface and JSON responses, you can quickly embed live news, topic-focused story listings, or historical research feeds into any application or project, combining ease of integration with comprehensive coverage of global news.
