About

In case of a copy error TeraCopy will try to recover. If unable to recover in the worst case scenario it will simply skip the problematic file, not terminating the entire transfer. It can also wait for network or device reconnection. Unnecessary files can be skipped to reduce the transfer time. During the process, TeraCopy shows detected errors, and allows you to fix the problem by recopying only the problematic files. TeraCopy can verify files after they have been copied to ensure that they are identical. This is done by comparing hashes of source and target files. TeraCopy can optionally show a confirmation dialog on every drag and drop operation. It can prevent you from moving folders accidentally from one location to another. TeraCopy can keep history of recently used directories, as well as show folders which are open in Explorer and other file managers.

About

rsync is an open source utility that provides fast incremental file transfer. rsync is freely available under the GNU General Public License. The GPG signing key that is used to sign the release files is available from the public pgp key-server network. If you have automatic key-fetching enabled, just running a normal "gpg --verify" will grab my key automatically. Or, feel free to grab the gpp key for Wayne Davison manually. rsync is a file transfer program for Unix systems. rsync uses the "rsync algorithm" which provides a very fast method for bringing remote files into sync. It does this by sending just the differences in the files across the link, without requiring that both sets of files are present at one of the ends of the link beforehand. Optionally preserves symbolic links, hard links, file ownership, permissions, devices and times. Internal pipelining reduces latency for multiple files.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • *Supports multi-threading for fast simultaneous copy/move, verifying hash *Queening and automatic file processing for best speed *Creating # of different hashes of files/folders and using it to verify if any of them got deleted or alter *Built in hash verifier
  • There are none. There is no advantage to a program that deletes your files without informing you. I find no speed benefit and the updates have made following transfers far more confusing than windows file copy

Cons

  • I have tested version 4.0.5 extensively and so far, has none as far I am aware.
  • Connected my windows PC to my Samsung phone. Made the mistake of asking Teracopy to move my files instead of windows. Teracopy promptly deleted files from the phone and failed to move them
