Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros Setup is a breeze. Easily add firewall rules Easily add or remove users. Fast support and possibility to bring your own aws cloud etc when you are really scaling etc. So simple to setup and manage our databases. We've luckily not had to use the automated failover in production, but tested it rigorously before deploying. It couldn't be easier to manage and setup. The alert system is amazing as well. I am a scientist who has no formal training in computer science or databases. I needed to create a MySQL database to store a large amount of training data for a machine learning project. I found AWS to be overly complicated and overpowered for my needs. ScaleGrid offered an affordable solution with a web interface and very responsive support. I highly recommend them. Cons - it's a bit costly for minimum plan being 10$ It is costly for starters but if you are about to scale it makes sense to use it. I honestly don't have a single con for moving to ScaleGrid. It was so simple. It would be helpful to have a bit more documentation about how to manage backups, get more disk space, and use the web console. It is all probably self-evident to database gurus, but for non-experts like me, documentation would be very helpful.	Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros We have been using Windocks for a number of years now. We currently are using 5 Windocks hosts and 40+ containers. To have access to a functional SQL server, for development or trouble-shooting production issues, in minutes is invaluable. Very reliable deliver of SQL Server database environments with cloned databased. Excellent and timely support. - concept of "database containers" to isolate enable each dev and test to work in their own writable environments - easy application of access controls so devs only access their designated environments - database cloning to minimize disk space associated with instances - familiar docker commands to environments to be updated frequently and automatically Cons I can't think of anything negative to say about Windocks. The installation is extremely easy. The upgrades are timely and useful. We have asked a lot from them feature-wise over the years and they never fail to come through. Required a DevOps mindset to adopted but more than worth it at the end. - cultural change to automate what used to be manually done by our DBA. Had to sell this internally to the team, but it was totally worth it in the end. - some initial time needed to set this up just right to automate what we wanted. Once set up, it just runs flawlessly.
