About

QuantaStor is a unified Software-Defined Storage platform designed to scale up and out to make storage management easy while reducing overall enterprise storage costs. With support for all major file, block, and object protocols including iSCSI/FC, NFS/SMB, and S3, QuantaStor storage grids may be configured to address the needs of complex workflows which span sites and datacenters. QuantaStor’s storage grid technology is a built-in federated management system which enables QuantaStor servers to be combined together to simplify management and automation via CLI and REST APIs. The layered architecture of QuantaStor provides solution engineers with unprecedented flexibility and application design options that maximizes workload performance and fault-tolerance for a wide range of storage workloads. QuantaStor includes end-to-end security coverage enabling multi-layer data protection “on the wire” and “at rest” for enterprise and cloud storage deployments.

About

SoftNAS is a cloud-native, software-defined, full-featured enterprise cloud NAS filer product line for primary data storage, secondary storage and hybrid cloud data integration. It enables existing applications to securely migrate to and connect with the cloud without re-engineering. With enterprise-class NAS features like: high-availability, deduplication, compression, thin-provisioning, snapshots, replication, cloning, encryption (at rest and in transit), LDAP and Active Directory integration, and support for NFS, CIFS, iSCSI or AFP storage protocols, SoftNAS protects mission-critical and primary, active/hot data, backup/archive data and makes cloud data migration faster and more reliable. SoftNAS offers the broadest range of storage options in terms of price vs. performance and backend storage selection, on-demand at petabyte scale across the AWS and Azure Marketplaces or on-premises on VMware.

Pros

  • Flexible storage solution. Supporting a majority of store output local S3, SMB, ISCIS. But fantastic per sales and support with a highly knowledgeable team to help with issues and quick resolution. A good alternative to Vmware vSAN.
  • The unified storage grid creates a single storage platform to deploy file, block and object storage pools across multisites, simplifying management from a single web-based dashboard. Built atop a CEPH-based cluster architecture, removes the complexities of configuration while delivering a high-performance, low-latency (NVME SSD and NVMe-oF support) and highly scalable environments. Works well in multisite environments, as well as private and multi-cloud or hybrid cloud infrastructures. 20+ API integrations, including Veeam, Dropbox and Docker, increases your ROI for the storage investment with the ability to connect to all line of business apps.
  • 1. Support File/Block/Object Storage types 2. Deploy clusters and create pool in only few steps 3. Easy to use for multi-site management 4. A variety of storage configurations with scalability 5. Quick support responses

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • With its expertise in cloud-native storage solutions, SoftNAS enables enterprises to set up and maintain scalable Network-Attached Storage (NAS) systems across cloud providers, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

Cons

  • Even though SoftNAS provides scalable options, businesses should carefully weigh the financial ramifications, particularly in cloud settings where usage-based storage prices may apply. Cost-effective configuration optimization is essential.
