About

Qodo (formerly Codium) analyzes your code and generates meaningful tests to catch bugs before you ship. Qodo maps your code’s behaviors, surfaces edge cases, and tags anything that looks suspicious. Then, it generates clear and meaningful unit tests that match how your code behaves. Get full visibility of how your code behaves, and how the changes you make affect the rest of your code. Code coverage is broken. Meaningful tests actually check functionality, giving you the confidence needed to commit. Spend fewer hours writing questionable test cases, and more time developing useful features for your users. By analyzing your code, docstring, and comments, Qodo suggests tests as you type. All you have to do is add them to your suite. Qodo is focused on code integrity: generating tests that help you understand how your code behaves; finding edge cases and suspicious behaviors; and making your code more robust.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I like the explaining of what classes do, improving code and testing. It helps me improve parts I didn’t know need improving.
  • - Easy to work - Awesome code suggestions - Works pretty smoothly with Jetbrains - The code analysis is good and fast
  • I've been using Codium AI for a couple of months now, and I can honestly say that it's the best AI code assistant I've ever used. It's helped me to speed up my development process, improve my code quality, and collaborate more effectively with other developers.
  • I like how easy it is to generate relevant test cases. The code improvements and docstring generation have also come in handy.
  • Best Product with the ease to write small meaningful test cases with easily integrated with the VS Code and our own code support of test frameworks is great and best.

Cons

  • I love every part of it. It is always precise and helpful.
  • The CodiumAI is awesome, my only concern is that sometimes the code suggestion loses the context and ends up missing some variables. However, it's not a critical thing due to this tool helps A LOT.
  • It can generate inaccurate or incomplete code, also the "Code suggestions" sometimes seem to enter in an infinite where it won't offer a final version.
  • If something it is that its not super easy to understand how to make use of all the functionalities at first, but once you get a hang of it, its great.
  • Not a major con, but I feel like the PR reviewer. is a bit complex to understand and setup.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I have used Visual Studio Code mainly for automation scripting and day to day code updates and I like that it is lightweight, easy to navigate, and supports useful extensions. It makes it convenient to manage scripts, terminal commands and quick debugging in one place
  • Lightweight and very fast Excellent extensions for HTML, CSS, JSON, schema, Markdown Makes debugging tracking scripts much easier Powerful search across folders and files Free and works smoothly even on low systems
  • Linux, macOS, and Windows are among the operating systems that Visual Studio Code (VS Code) is compatible with. Its cross-platform compatibility makes it a flexible option for developers working in various contexts.
  • 1. It has an excellent set of tools for debugging and testing the code. 2. It can be customized heavily from the settings or from the configuration files. 3. Furthermore, it has a lot of extensions available on the extension store to increase the features and functionality of the code editor. 4. It supports all the major programming languages and frameworks. 5. It is extremely light on the system.
  • Best free IDE that i have used so far. It is very light weight in terms of memory utilisation and works smooth on my Mac Book PRO. I really like the window splitting feature and renaming my terminal tabs. I can run my different environments in different named tabs.

Cons

  • One issue I have seen is that it can slow down a bit when too many extensions are installed or when the project becomes large
  • Slight learning curve if you’ve never seen code editors Too many extensions can become confusing Not beginner-friendly on day one without YouTube help
  • VS Code could be thought to be less efficient for really big projects when compared to more complex IDEs. Nevertheless, the size and complexity of any project will determine this.
  • It does not have dedicated build tools available on the options and to use that the user has to use command in the terminal.
  • Although the features are great, one feature that i really miss out on this IDE is the use of GIT. E.g. if it does not support a GUI to resolve merge conflicts. It is handy for updating the repo but not that flexible for resolving conflicts.
