About

There's nothing complicated or difficult for you to install, and you can start using LaTeX right now, even if you've never seen it before. Overleaf comes with a complete, ready to go LaTeX environment which runs on our servers. With Overleaf you get the same LaTeX set-up wherever you go. By working with your colleagues and students on Overleaf, you know that you're not going to hit any version inconsistencies or package conflicts.

About

Scraiber is an academic writing workspace for researchers who submit to specific journals. Where Overleaf gives you LaTeX and Paperpal or Writefull polish English, Scraiber holds the submission requirements of 7,239 scientific journals and applies them to the manuscript: length limits, abstract rules, reference caps, display-item counts, citation style. Key features: - Free journal check: upload a .docx on any journal page and see every violated limit, no account required - Rewrite to fit: shortens and restructures the draft to the target journal's rules, so a paper rejected by one journal is ready for the next in minutes - Subfield autocompletion: models trained on 2 million publications across 250+ scientific subfields - Citation search across 200 million papers (OpenAlex, Crossref, Semantic Scholar, arXiv, bioRxiv) - Real-time collaboration, groups and a personal library - Encrypted in transit and at rest, multi-region AWS, Article 28 GDPR DPA

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Overleaf is an online LaTeX editor, which makes it easy to write LaTeX independent of the device You are using. The free plan offers all You need to write beautiful and very precise customizable document layouts. You would have all Your projects in a user friendly web interface, where You can organize them in folders and assign labels. Another pro in my opinion would be that they offer special prices for students and groups of students.

Cons

  • Version Control for longer than one session is only possible in the paid plan, as well as Git/GitHub or DropBox integration. If you are starting from scratch, You will have to invest some time in learning how to equip yourself with the necessary packages and get handy in typing the basic commands. The best way of doing this would be to get hands on your project with the help of one of the templates overleaf offers (CV, formal letter, paper, book, etc.).
