Openwork is an open source local computer-use AI agent for Mac that runs directly on your machine, reads your files, generates and rewrites documents, automates workflows, and organizes content without sending your data off your device, giving you full control over what it can access and do. It acts as an AI coworker that goes beyond simple chat by performing real actions such as sorting, renaming, and moving files based on content or rules you define, scanning folders to summarize their contents, drafting follow-up documents from meeting notes, creating calendar entries, and preparing project structures with minimal input. Openwork lets you bring your own AI by using your preferred API key from providers like OpenAI or Anthropic, so there are no subscriptions or vendor lock-ins, and you only pay for the API usage you choose; the software itself is a tool, not a service.
