About

Access Server gives you the ability to rapidly deploy a secure remote access solution with a web-based administration interface — all on general purpose computing hardware or virtual machines. Your team will have access to the built-in OpenVPN Connect App and bundled connection profiles. All without adding a ton of extra work to your IT to-do list. OpenVPN Access Server is a full-featured SSL self-hosted VPN software solution that integrates OpenVPN server capabilities, enterprise management capabilities, simplified OpenVPN Connect UI, and OpenVPN Client software packages that accommodate Windows, MAC, and Linux, mobile OS (Android and iOS) environments. OpenVPN Access Server supports a wide range of configurations, including secure and granular remote access to internal network and/ or private cloud network resources and applications with fine-grained access control. OpenVPN also has a cloud-delivered solution called CloudConnexa.

About

Protect your business against damaging data breaches and easily comply with security frameworks like ISO 27001, GDPR, and HIPAA. Our software-only virtual private network easily integrates with your existing infrastructure to provide a flexible and scalable way to protect your organization. With our VPN Professional plan, you can securely access your LAN and SaaS resources by assigning and segmenting permissions to private dedicated VPN servers, allowing employees to access only what they need. With all plans, your network traffic is secured using strong AES-256 or ChaCha20 encryption. You can further strengthen your organization's security with enforced 2FA and seamless login through single sign-on (SSO) with SCIM support for automated user provisioning. Proton VPN's high-speed server network is one of the largest in the world and is part of a suite of open source end-to-end encrypted products from the makers of Proton Mail that are designed to keep your business secure.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Open Source. lots of customization options. Create your own VPN profile using free networks available on sites such as vpnbook. Also available as a service - pay as you go model. Cross Platform.
  • The software made the process of setting up a Virtual Private Network so much easier. It has a lot of configuration options available including the use of DNS servers, user permissions and more. OpenVPN has support that will help with any issues needed.

Cons

  • Initial setup is difficult - creating profiles, installing certificate (at least on windows).
  • It still requires a fair bit of work to actually set up the Virtual Private Network.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Worked well for the first few months. Offered several free IP sites around the world. Promises high level of security. Looks sharp on the desktop.
  • None. I have a paid subscription to PVPN for two years and it was fine. I am also a subscriber to the email.
  • • The interface is one of the best I've come across. It shows you a world map with all the possible locations to connect to. • The free version is the best among all VPNs I've tried. No advertisements, and no daily limit. • Excellent security and privacy. I can safely say that I haven't had to share personal information while using ProtonVPN. • Flexible subscription plans.
  • It provides a seamless web browsing experience without compromising personal data. Browse internet without exposing identity. Reliable and fast servers with low ping. Cross-platform application availability.
  • Free and open source Strict no logs policy High-speed connections (up to 10 Gbps) End to end encryption Available on smartphones and all desktop OS

Cons

  • At first the app worked fine, it began to refuse to open or close. Next it began to autonomously open and close while visiting websites or not or open a tunnel in another country without my knowledge. Now it has imbedded itself in my computer and will not let go. I have deleted the app, shut down the computer, deleted cookies, etc, But it is blocking access to commonly used public sites even though, it's not supposed to even be there.
  • The GUI kept killing my internet connections, meaning even with the GUI turned off or uninstalled even, it wrecked my wi-fi connection. This happened on two Linux mint 20.2 computers, one of which was dual-booted with Win 10. PVPN worked on Windows, showing it wasn't my modem or my computer. I had to re-install Mint three times on both machines, just to get back online.
  • • Speed is limited in free version. • Lower subscription plans offer little improvement in allowed bandwidth. • Lesser server locations than competitors.
  • I never encountered any problem with this platform.
  • No cons, i find it the best reliable free VPN.
