About

Model Hardware Standard (MHS) is a shared specification that enables AI agents to safely operate physical equipment used in scientific research and advanced manufacturing. It provides a standardized way for agents to discover, understand, and control programmable devices such as microscopes, liquid handlers, robotic arms, sensors, and other lab or factory instruments without requiring bespoke integrations for every machine. MHS introduces standardized drivers built around simple primitives such as read and write, making device capabilities discoverable in a common format across networks. Drivers can also include natural-language metadata about machine characteristics, adjustable parameters, measurements, and enforced safety limits, giving agents the context they need to operate unfamiliar equipment. Once connected, agents can control devices through MCP, command-line interfaces, or APIs, sequence operations across multiple instruments, monitor results, and adjust parameters.

About

Traccia is an OpenTelemetry-native observability, governance, and policy enforcement platform for production AI agents. It gives engineering teams complete visibility into every LLM call, tool invocation, decision, token, and dollar spent across frameworks like LangChain, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, AutoGen, and LlamaIndex. Beyond tracing, Traccia helps organizations govern AI systems with runtime policies that can detect and block unsafe behavior, runaway costs, restricted model usage, and PII exposure before incidents reach production. Accurate cost attribution, agent health monitoring, a unified agent registry, and EU AI Act evidence generation make it suitable for enterprise deployments. With a lightweight open-source SDK and managed platform, Traccia enables teams to build, debug, monitor, and govern AI agents at scale without vendor lock-in, using standard OpenTelemetry instrumentation.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • What I like most is the visibility Traccia gives me into my AI agents. I can easily trace execution paths, identify issues, and understand why an agent behaved a certain way. I also find the cost attribution, centralized agent registry, and compliance support for frameworks like the EU AI Act extremely useful when building production-ready AI applications.
  • We've explored multiple LLM observability platforms over the past year, and Traccia impressed us with its focus on production-ready AI agents. Beyond tracing, it brings governance, policy enforcement, and clear visibility into agent behavior in one platform. The setup was quick, and it has become an important part of our AI deployment workflow.

Cons

  • I would like to see more integrations with third-party AI and DevOps tools, along with additional dashboard customization options. The current experience is already solid, but these additions would make it even better for larger teams.
  • Yet to come across something that I can share. We will share once we get more.
