LocalStack is a cloud development platform that lets teams emulate cloud services across development, testing, and CI environments, so they can build against real APIs, iterate faster, and stay local. It provides a local cloud emulator that runs in a single container on a laptop or in a CI environment, allowing developers to run AWS applications and Lambdas without connecting to a remote cloud provider. LocalStack replicates an application’s production environment on local infrastructure, helping teams build for AWS faster and with more confidence. It is designed for testing complex CDK applications, validating Terraform configurations, learning AWS services, debugging cloud workflows, running integration tests, and simplifying the development loop.
