About
LaTeX, which is pronounced «Lah-tech» or «Lay-tech» (to rhyme with «blech» or «Bertolt Brecht»), is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting. It is most often used for medium-to-large technical or scientific documents but it can be used for almost any form of publishing. LaTeX is not a word processor! Instead, LaTeX encourages authors not to worry too much about the appearance of their documents but to concentrate on getting the right content. To produce this in most typesetting or word-processing systems, the author would have to decide what layout to use, so would select (say) 18pt Times Roman for the title, 12pt Times Italic for the name, and so on. This has two results: authors wasting their time with designs; and a lot of badly designed documents! LaTeX is based on the idea that it is better to leave document design to document designers, and to let authors get on with writing documents.

About
Scraiber is an academic writing workspace for researchers who submit to specific journals. Where Overleaf gives you LaTeX and Paperpal or Writefull polish English, Scraiber holds the submission requirements of 7,239 scientific journals and applies them to the manuscript: length limits, abstract rules, reference caps, display-item counts, citation style.
Key features:
- Free journal check: upload a .docx on any journal page and see every violated limit, no account required
- Rewrite to fit: shortens and restructures the draft to the target journal's rules, so a paper rejected by one journal is ready for the next in minutes
- Subfield autocompletion: models trained on 2 million publications across 250+ scientific subfields
- Citation search across 200 million papers (OpenAlex, Crossref, Semantic Scholar, arXiv, bioRxiv)
- Real-time collaboration, groups and a personal library
- Encrypted in transit and at rest, multi-region AWS, Article 28 GDPR DPA
