About

MD Link is a powerful integration engine that delivers advanced inter-system messaging to healthcare providers and vendors. All managed from a single screen with drag-and-drop configuration and supported by HL7 Certified resources. MDI derived its name from Medical Data Integration and they focus on the interchange of clinical, financial and administrative information with independent healthcare computer systems; providing a foundation of interoperability. Interface Adapters provide drag-and-drop access to a variety of data, application and communication protocols. The plug-in Java programs provide a graphical representation of each interface’s unique properties and data structure.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I work with UX, and the company uses IRIS, I've worked with other databases, but IRIS surprised me with the speed of data access.
  • I really like the IRIS REST applications and extensions in Visual Studio Code and DBeaver CE, are very useful.
  • Created a lot of new possibilities such as working with machine learning, integration with python, node and AWS that creates a much faster environment.
  • Very fast and scalable database, good management for huge data flow with safe paths providing full resources to build a complete application without needing anything else.
  • It's a high performance database, the union of two products (Caché and Ensemble) with a lot of enhancements.

Cons

  • I realized that IRIS is still not widely used, which makes it difficult to solve small problems, which could be solved with a quick search on search engines.
  • I have no cons about IRIS, because I am new to InterSystem technology, but REST applications are very interesting.
  • The license is pricier than just buying ensemble. Also it's a new tool that it's not been used a lot and a training is highly required.
  • Lack of information on the open web for some particularities and the Studio editor is kind of outdated.
  • Until now, we don't have any, we upgraded applications from Caché to IRIS, it's all fine.
