About

HandyCode is QR-code software for creating and managing static and dynamic codes. Its iPhone and iPad app makes codes for links, Wi-Fi, contacts, social profiles, menus, PDFs, images, forms, and other content. Dynamic destinations can be changed after printing, and uploaded PDFs or images can be hosted behind codes. Users can style codes and track scans; codes can also be created or edited offline and synchronized through cloud backup. A separate browser-based generator creates static QR codes. The free plan includes unlimited QR codes, while detailed analytics are available in a 14-day trial. Pro adds QR forms, a custom logo, detailed analytics, and removal of HandyCode branding. The product serves owner-operators at small businesses, including restaurants using QR codes on menus, signs, and flyers. Dynamic codes continue redirecting after Pro cancellation, though HandyCode branding may reappear on hosted pages.

About

By using QR.io you will be able keep track of how many people scan your QR Codes, from where and on what date. Also for those non-developers, you can create fully customized landing pages for your QR Codes. No coding required! The outcome of both are pretty similar. They have their differences when it comes to changes, updates, stats, track. With Dynamic Qr Codes you can create a customized landing page for your QR Code that can be changed and updated whenever you want no matter if the QR Code is created or even if it went public. Dynamic Qr Codes also give you statistics of how many people scanned your QR Codes, from where and on what date. This QR Code type is most used by business owners (restaurants, gyms, clothing stores, etc.), artists, influencers, and non-developers users. Static QR Codes on the other hand can't be changed or updated once created and went public. Also, static QR Codes do NOT give you statistics of how many people scanned your QR Codes.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Very nice, easy to use, customizable platform, lots of QR designs to choose from. The problem is they are deceptive.
  • I would love to mention any pros but I feel so scammed by this company and their obvious malicious intent that it outweighs any positives
  • Easy sign up. Easy deactivation of Free QR Code, after you have spent money on printed material. Bait and switch!
  • While some of their services sound good, and it was nice to see how many people used the QR code they created. But, the way they operate is actually extortion.
  • What they advertised (free QR codes) sounded good. It was relatively easy to create them. But using them was another matter.

Cons

  • Misleading advertising and shady business practice of enticing people to use a free QR code, then making it inactive and asking for paid subscription.
  • A QR generator is generally used on printed material. So they give you one week to make sure your material is printed and then they deactivate your QR code, forcing you to pay for a long period
  • If using QR.IO, or thinking about using them, run, run, run! Make a static QR Code that has link built in to your own website. If their QR is on a sign, print the corrected one on vinyl and stick over the old QR. If their QR is on a business card, just black it out. If used online as a pic, just substitute the corrected one. Never would I trust my QR to be at their mercy. Every customer click now passes first through their controlled website prior to being directed to your site. Run, run, run!
  • The Non-Profit company I volunteer for is yet another victim of their scam. They hide the true cost of their "free" QR code, and then they try to extort a monthly payment after you have distributed material that uses the QR code. Failure to pay results in a deactivated QR code. We had to submit to their extortion for a month, to keep the flyers we already distributed working for that time. Now I am also considering if we should get a different credit card, to avoid them using it fraudulently for other purposes. The is good reason to not trust them with this information.
  • The "free" QR codes you create expire after a short period of time (just long enough for you to print them up in your promotional literature) and they demand a high "subscription" price (which you aren't told up front) to make them work again.
