Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Minimal & Lightweight — A small, clean Arch-based foundation with less unnecessary software and resource overhead. Fast & Responsive — Designed for quick boot times, low background activity, and efficient performance. Highly Customizable — Users can build their environment around Sway, i3, console workflows, or other preferred tools. Modern Linux Foundation — Built on Arch Linux, providing access to a large, continuously updated package ecosystem. Engineer-Focused — Particularly suitable for Linux professionals, DevOps engineers, developers, system administrators, and users who want control over their system.
  • LinuxWays Core OS has been lightning fast and provides an excellent experience for advanced Linux users. It is efficient, minimal, lightweight, and truly fast, without unnecessary bloat slowing the system down. The installation mirrors are convenient, workflows are smooth, and the overall system feels responsive and well organized. I also really like the availability of different desktop and window manager versions such as i3, Sway, KDE, and others, allowing users to choose an environment that fits their workflow and preferences.

Cons

  • Not Beginner-Friendly by Default — Its minimal philosophy can require more Linux knowledge than distributions such as Linux Mint or Ubuntu. Rolling-Release Maintenance — Arch-based updates can occasionally require manual intervention or troubleshooting.
  • Because LinuxWays Core OS focuses on being minimal and lightweight, some users may need to manually install and configure additional software depending on their requirements. This is less of an issue for experienced Linux users who prefer customizing their own environment. So, a good one distro for users being used to use Linux.
