About

Flagsmith is a fully supported open source Feature Flag, Remote Config, and A/B testing service. Use our hosted API, deploy to your own private cloud, or run on-premise. Flagsmith makes it easy to create and manage features flags across web, mobile, and server side applications. Just wrap a section of code with a flag, and then use Flagsmith to toggle that feature on or off for different environments, users or user segments. Feature flags - Release features with confidence through phased rollouts. Remote config - Easily toggle individual features on and off, and make changes without deploying new code. A/B and Multivariate Testing - Use segments to run A/B and multivariate tests on new features. With segments, you can also introduce beta programs to get early user feedback. Organization Management - Organizations, projects, and roles for team members help keep your deployment organized. Integrations - Easily enhance Flagsmith with your favourite tools.

About

SlickStack is a free LEMP stack automation script written in Bash designed to enhance and simplify WordPress provisioning, performance, and security. Our project empowers small businesses with marketing-leading technical SEO features for their WordPress stack. If you are a developer that's tired of bouncing from web hosting to web hosting, it's time to manage your own cloud servers and learn the basics of bash shell commands (SSH). It's very easy with our script and our community is here to help you learn and improve anytime! Outside of the so-called Application Layer, so much of the way computers and servers now work has been moved away from in-house teams and specialists and onto “the cloud” that terms like DevOps have become standard among recruiters, companies, and developers alike. Modern web development trends have begun to revolve entirely around concepts such as automation, APIs, cloud services, and beyond, a phenomenon we might refer to as Web 3.0.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • 1. It is straightforward to use and helps tremendously in releasing features. 2. The UI and UX of the software is well-designed and implemented. 3. The management of features is easy and does not consume a lot of time. 4. It comes with an affordable price tag.
  • * Cheap compared to other solutions * Very good support * Quick to fix bugs * Nice interfaces * Tons of options to do almost anything with feature flags and remote configurations
  • Easy to implement in code. Easy to use for product team. Inexpensive. Multiple projects and for each, multiple environments (e.g. Staging, Development, Production). End user segmentation into groups. Excellent support.
  • Easy to set up, easy to implement, easy to manage. I've used several feature flag tools both free and premium. Flagsmith is the easiest to use and the most robust, especially in their entry-level tiers. It was an easy decision!
  • UI is clean and easy to use. Extensive SDKs with support for various languages. A/B Testing and throttling. REST API support. Webhooks support to trigger actions on toggle.

Cons

  • It is not widely used and because of that, there is no strong community support available for this software.
  • * Not used by a majority of people yet so small community * The Open Source options is hard to install
  • I have yet to find something that needs to change in their solution. Note that some things are very hard to wrap in a feature toggle. For example DB schema changes which are not backwards compatible. This is not a problem specific to FlagSmith but rather a generic problem with these types of solutions.
  • I think it would be nice if we could send JSON objects instead of a string. For us, we could benefit from sending a more complex object as the value property. That being said, we were able to overcome the issue by parsing the string within our app. Honestly, it's just a minor, minor inconvenience for an otherwise great platform.
  • Self Hosted setup is tricky to get right. No metrics graphs. Permissions are a bit clunky.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • It's very easy to setup. Get a KVM server, load ubuntu, run 1 line of script and everything else is automated. Makes a super fast NGINX WordPress environment, sets up SSL certificate with Cloudflare ready to use. And it's so much faster than normal hosting. I've moved a bunch of websites like www.groundswellwash.com.au which is a very bloated site (i didn't develop it) to a SlickStack KVM server and the performance went up 30-50% it's now way faster and the customer is enjoying a better conversion rate. I've also hosted websites all using SlickStack and they are so fast to use it's awesome. I won't use any other stack.
  • It automatizes a lot of the processes while keeping everything up to date, secure and at hand. It is lightweight and gets not in the way which is also a very important aspect for a tool! Leaves you more time to focus on the Wordpress tier while knowing that the basis below is in good hands!
  • The install was a breeze! The documentation and the wizard are extremely easy to follow. Slickstack is fool-proof. Built with security in mind, lots of automated checks (including backups), easy to “get back to square one” if you miss or do something wrong, altought most certanly you won’t. I managed to get a server up and running and get an almost perfect score on Pagespeed (the theme is also geavily optimized) in less than 1h. The support is great and the best thing about it, the entire stack is free. Tried easyengine, webinoly, or paid tools like Runcloud - Slickstack beat them hard. Definitely recommend it if you need a stable LEMP stack, dedicated for Wordpress with security and all sorts of other improvements.
  • Makes it super easy to set up server configuration love this software thank you for developing this it’s the best.
  • - Amazing performance - Active development - Automatic updates - Stress free installation - High quality standards - Great Support

Cons

  • SlickStack is super security and performance focused so getting A+ security headers is awesome. But the security can prevent some plugins from functioning, the crazy thing is that this is usually because the plugin developers haven't followed best practice which is good to know but can make using some plugins you're used to no longer work. I took this as an opportunity to source better plugins.
  • Shell/Script/Bash knowledge is required and there is a learning curve to it. There is no fancy-glancy interface but this I can note also as a pro ;-)
  • I have nothing to say far. Everything went well, the guys were very quick and supportive on Discord.
  • Nothing in particular. Makes the entire process easy to setup.
  • - While setup is great, it could be daunting for users that aren't familiar with command line.
