Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros I used to like this app, and have been using it for the last four or five years, but there are no longer any 'Pros' given what just happened. Worked really good , No problems with how it handled my email accounts but read the cons, NO TRUST ! normal people do not do business like this and that is why I just downloaded SPARK email ! It looks fine, with all the bells and whistles that one would expect. Pretty much par for the course for this kind of thing. Nothing NOW!! Even Compulsory Updates of The APP want ME TO Upgrade to another Mediocre PLATFORM - AND THEY NEVER RESPOND!! Cons Just had the same experience as the September 2025 user. I've been using Edison Mail mobile and desktop apps for the last four or five years, and suddenly I can no longer access my desktop app. There's only a notification window -- with no Close button, so it can't be closed -- with an asinine smiley face and text that says Edison is switching to mobile-only immediately, Edison is removing the desktop app from the App Store, and Edison won't respond to any requests for support. The window can't even be expanded in order to see all of the text, which is insane. Although there is text that says "You can keep using it if you'd like, but starting now...", there's no way to use it since the window can't be closed and there's a error message in the background that says something about "wound". This is total BS. They gave ZERO advance notification about this. All of this is a complete violation of industry standards, but I guess who cares because standards don't exist any more, right? Now I need to figure out the implications of a company doing whatever it wants with all of my personal email, as they've done with this desktop app. Given this and the issues they've had over the years -- and I thought I had done enough research -- you can be absolutely sure they're doing some back-door thing where they've given access to all of their users' personal emails to train AI or some other money-making grab to save what is apparently their failing business. Cannot Trust them if they close all desktop Edison emails without notice, I have 78 emails I needed right then ! they locked the page with a message saying sorry we are not working with desktop's anymore as of Now! I had almost 1 year of work in my account ! They say they are only going to work with cell phone users ! Even a F-ing 1 day notice would have let me get my stuff closed down . No S/MIME support. This is a complete deal breaker for me: without S/MIME support this is not a good fit in professional settings, certainly not in mine. Total BS from Support NOW!! :( Mail By Edison is now all but an AD Platform for its new xxx@mail.COM Email Accounts		Pros from Real Users Pros All tools in one place — Mail, Drive, VPN, Calendar — make work simple and efficient. Seamless sync across devices keeps everything smooth and effortless, with flexible plans for any need. Trustworthy service from Switzerland. So its Europe. proton meets all legal requirements, so it is perfect for business. Availability is very good. I like the fact that it was constructed around account safety and it has a fresh interface. It has a lot of features and it is quite affordable for regular users. - Easy to use, - Open source, - Possible to use with a custom domain (requires a premium subscription), - Privacy orientated (something truly rare these days!) The web client is great for all my needs, and ProtonMail is a privacy-respecting e-mail provider, based on Switzerland. The # draw is that this is a secure, privacy-focused email alternative. It also has a very sleek interface. Can encrypt if you want, or not. All settings are available and it is easy to set up everything. Have a free version that I am currently using and it is not restricted in any way. Allows for two-factor authorization. ProtonMail offers encrypted emails, so it's a good option for those looking for a more private, secure email service compared to the bigger ones out there like Gmail and Outlook. It's got fairly priced options, and the free version isn't too bad either. I love that my emails are end to end encrypted. I found out that Gmail reads my emails and I quickly signed up for the free version.
