About

EEZ Studio represents a unique solution when both rapid development of an attractive GUI and remote control of devices for test and measurement (T&M) automation is required. Created by a team with first-hand experience in designing resource-constrained complex embedded devices, EEZ Studio enables the design of responsive desktops and embedded GUIs using the “drag & drop” and flowcharting (EEZ Flow) visual programming. A series of in-house developed Widgets and Actions as well as LVGL support and read-to-go project templates and examples enable rapid prototyping as well as development of final applications. The EEZ Studio contains everything you need to quickly create, test and debug attractive and responsive GUIs, regardless of the level of complexity, and can meet even the most complex requirements. Depending on the type of application, several types of projects are offered in order to simplify development and successfully address the challenges of the chosen target platform.

About

Studio Bot is your coding companion for Android development. It's a conversational experience in Android Studio that helps you be more productive by answering Android development queries. It's powered by artificial intelligence and can understand natural language, so you can ask development questions in plain English. Studio Bot can help Android developers generate code, find relevant resources, learn best practices, and save time. Studio Bot is still an early experiment, and might sometimes provide inaccurate, misleading or false information while presenting it confidently. Studio Bot might give you working code that doesn't produce the expected output, or provide you with code that is not optimal or incomplete. Always double-check Studio Bot's responses and carefully test and review code for errors, bugs, and vulnerabilities before relying on it. Studio Bot's new capabilities can help you by offering new ways to write code, create test cases, or update APIs.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • EEZ Flow code generation, now supports themes. Easy to use. Open Source and fixes happen fast. Supports LVGL. There is a lot of pros!
  • Very slick, responsive and easy to understand UI. The "Flow" block-style programming is some of the best I've seen. Generating object lists from arrays, keypress event actions and the ease of applying conditional styles make it much more suitable for non-touchscreen GUIs than most other solutions.
  • - UI is very similar to SquareLine Studio, so very little ramp-up time needed to learn EEZ Studio if one is already familiar with sq studio. I used only the lvgl project. - multiple windows can be opened - lvgl v9 support - c code generator is customisable to some extent - user widgets - support via discord server is very responsive and helpful - very stable! I didn't had any crashes, except it gets slow/unresponsive when using the color picker for a longer time - open source and free - active development
  • - Very easy to use! It's a drag and drop interface. - Helps you create LVGL interfaces with ease, even allowing you to share styles between components. - Logic flows are very easy out of the box. - Native coding lets you expand well beyond what EEZ Studio offers and allows you to introduce custom code.
  • -The intuitive, no-code interface enabled me to create pretty advanced projects I would never have tacked otherwise -Very responsive and helpful from the devs, always willing to chime in with tips to achieve specific goals -Fast paced development, having experienced issue reports fixed within the day

Cons

  • Documentation is not great but developers are very supportive on discord. Its a early in development but maturing fast. You might encounter bugs in software.
  • Still in early development so some flaws are excusable, but I'd like to see compilation of standalone apps expanded on (for example no borders/title bar option) and included within the main Studio application.
  • - tabview widget is missing - no localisation support for lvgl - the run/debug mode is not wysiwyg in all cases especially when trying out different image formats with alpha channels. The compiled result looked different.
  • - I wish native coding was a bit cleaner/easier: Currently the only way to share data between the EEZ UI code and your native code is to do so through global variables. This isn't bad but I wish there was a way to create getter functions to read local variables too.
  • -It remains a fairly specialized software; you might not need to know exactly how to write code, but some good general foundations in computing remain a must to enjoy its full potential
