About

Dr.Web uses a variety of technologies to protect computers from malware, including: A signature-based scanner that identifies known malware by its code A heuristics engine that detects unknown malware by its behavior A firewall that protects against network attacks A spam filter that blocks unwanted email Parental controls that restrict children's access to the internet A file shredder that permanently deletes files Dr.Web has a good reputation for detecting and removing malware. It has been awarded a number of independent test certifications, including VB100% from Virus Bulletin. However, Dr.Web has also been criticized for its high system resource usage and its clunky user interface. Overall, Dr.Web is a reliable and effective antivirus program. It is a good choice for users who are looking for a comprehensive malware protection solution. However, it is important to note that Dr.Web can be resource-intensive and its user interface can be a bit clunky.

About

Monarx is an AI-powered server security platform built for hosting providers, with a strong focus on advanced malware protection. It combines behavior-based malware detection, automated cleanup, and deep system-level remediation to identify and remove threats that traditional malware scanners can miss. Unlike solutions that rely primarily on signature-based scanning, Monarx detects malicious behavior in real time, stops malicious processes, and removes persistent threats that can survive traditional cleanup methods. Beyond malware protection, Monarx provides additional layers of security through ThreatShield for runtime attack prevention and virtual patching, and SmartWAF for web application protection. Designed to run with minimal resource usage, Monarx helps hosting providers reduce reinfections, lower security-related support costs, protect more customers, and increase ARPU through security upsells.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • 1. Has free version and paid (Cheaper than others) 2. The app works well, transparent in data collection unlike other utilities. 3. Own by Russian, you're sure of real-time protection unlike spying western apps. 4. File system protection: Scans files, applications, and removable media for threats 5. Anti-virus: Protects against viruses, Trojans, worms, rootkits, and spyware 6. Anti-phishing: Blocks attempts to monitor user activity and display ads 7. Parental control: Controls access to devices, files, and the internet for different users 8. Firewall: Protects against network threats 9. Exploit prevention: Prevents attempts to exploit vulnerabilities 10. Ransomware protection: Unlocks devices compromised by ransomware Final take: I've try big names like Avast, Kaspersky and others but Dr web stands out. Avast claim free version but after scanning when you try to neutralise the threats, you're asking to pay or upgrade which is so annoying. Kaspersky only works in windows. Dr.web my first attempt of scanning detected hidden virus that has been popping up ads, and white screen notification. It neutralise it and my device is totally safe now. Thanks for their modern technology.

Cons

  • 1. It's not popular like avast 2. Many western companies sees Russian & Chinese softwares as a threat. E.g. Deepseek AI. 3. Some of the notable features are locked which is common but with a cheaper price to unlock 4. No switch to turn off unless you clear apps in floating screen.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The one thing I can say is that it definitely protects you. From threats, legitimate users, traffic, uploads, and apparently anything else that happens to interact with the server.

Cons

  • Monarx seems to follow a very simple security philosophy: if something moves, makes noise, uploads a file, or looks remotely suspicious, block it. It blocks legitimate activity constantly and can remove files from the server without any meaningful notice. Getting something unblocked is another adventure. I have to contact an administrator, who then has to submit another request somewhere higher up the chain. By the time the issue is resolved, the traffic or customer is already gone. We have lost a significant amount of legitimate traffic because of this.
