About

DeskProto is a 3D CAM program for 3-axis, 4-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines. It can import 2D vector files (DXF, SVG, EPS, AI), 3D geometry files (STL, DXF) and bitmap files (any digital image), calculate CNC toolpaths for that design, simulate the result, and finally export a toolpath file for the machine that you selected - a long list of supported machines is present. DeskProto is available in our different editions: Free, Entry, Expert and Multi-Axis. The last three need a paid license, hobbyist users can buy a low-cost hobby license .

About

An elaborate description of your tool, including its features and use cases. Aim to provide clarity on what sets your tool apart and how it benefits users. (This can be important to get more people to your page). ProtoUI is like ChatGPT but for frontend devs. ProtoUI will take your prompts and render the requested UI instantly. In addition to rendering the UI it will allow you to copy and paste the TailwindCSS code it generated. Don't want to write UI prompts? That's ok! You can also take a screenshot of a UI component you want the code for and ProtoUI will render the UI in the screenshot as closely as possible. Save generated components for endless reuse. Save hours coding frontends by having ProtoUI be your own personal frontend developer assistant.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • all the features are there, some what easy to learn, much shorter learning curve than others, Wizards make it easy to set up a project. Low cost and no subscription needed.
  • Simple to use - the wizards really take the guesswork out of things for beginners. Scaleable - you can be as much in control of the process as you wish for, so it grows well with you as you grow in confidence

Cons

  • UI is a bit dated. Really no cons once you get used to the layout
  • I am unhappy that they have only just released the V-Carve solution. I have not yet upgraded to the Version 8 that incorporates this, as I have got used to making do with FEngrave. This would have been a nice to have before trying to go the hard route. I understand that tool paths can be broken, it would be nice (but potentially impossible to predict) to know this before embarking on a visualisation that just sits doing nothing for hours. Note I am still on V7, so this may be addressed in V8
