About

Designcenter Solid Edge is a Siemens product development portfolio that provides tools for mechanical design, electrical design, simulation, manufacturing, technical publications, data management, and collaboration. It combines the speed of direct modeling with the control of parametric design through synchronous technology. The software helps teams create 2D drawings, 3D models, electrical systems, simulations, manufacturing outputs, 3D printing workflows, and technical documentation. Designcenter Solid Edge is designed to be affordable, easy to learn, and scalable for different product development needs. It supports faster design changes, reuse of supplier CAD parts, realistic 3D modeling, and collaboration across engineering and manufacturing teams. With its complete portfolio of connected tools, Designcenter Solid Edge helps companies bring better products to market more efficiently.

About

SimScale is a cloud-based web application that plays a key part in simulation software for many kinds of industries. The platform allows the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Thermal Simulation. It also offers 3D simulation, continuous modeling, and motion & dynamic modeling.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Everything works great. Easy to use and good pricing. It makes things easier. I love the support channel and the trainings.

Cons

  • Nothing so far. It could always be for free, I guess :)

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The program provides us with computerized CAD modeling tools based on the specifications previously requested, to simulate the operation of the projects we have in just the development phase. It has several modeling options: 3D, motion, dynamic, among others. It is an excellent opportunity for companies that have ideas and projects in their primary states and want to test their safety, performance and future failures, since SimScale models your project in 3D scale and simulates operability and gives you risk reports and opportunities in its operation.
  • SimScale offers a 3D scale project simulation and infrastructure modeling service in a computerized way using basic knowledge of web aided engineering. We can use it if we work in the fields of engineering, architecture and construction and the program is responsible for digital testing of our projects that are under development.

Cons

  • SimScale does not allow a direct manipulation in the simulations of the projects provided by the companies, limiting us the power to modify or control the testing process. It also does not offer a version for mobile devices causing its usability to become frustrating when we ask for it in practice.
  • This program has the limitation of language, since the platform is only in English. This generates conflict with its clients since they have more than 100,000 of them and are segmented around the world. Likewise, it does not offer 2D modeling for projects of smaller scale or importance or budget.
