About

Copilot 3D is an experimental, AI-powered tool available in Microsoft’s Copilot Labs that enables users to convert a single 2D photo (JPG or PNG, max 10 MB) into a fully rendered 3D model (GLB format) without any prior experience. Designed for creative simplicity, it makes 3D generation accessible, requiring only an image upload and returning a downloadable 3D output. The tool is globally available at no extra cost to anyone with a personal Microsoft account, and the resulting models support applications like game design, animation, 3D printing, virtual and augmented reality, as well as digital content creation. While Copilot 3D excels at rendering common inanimate objects, like furniture or everyday items, it often performs poorly with complex subjects such as animals or human figures. The system includes guardrails that prevent the modeling of copyrighted or sensitive imagery, and it stores creations for 28 days.

About

For graphic designers, digital artists and game developers, 3D content creation can be among the most complex and time-consuming tasks, often taking hours - sometimes days - to create a moderately complex 3D object. Stability AI is pleased to introduce a private preview of Stable 3D, an automatic process to generate concept-quality textured 3D objects that eliminates much of that complexity and allows a non-expert to generate a draft-quality 3D model in minutes, by selecting an image or illustration, or writing a text prompt. Objects created with Stable 3D are delivered in the “.obj” standard file format, and can be further edited and improved in 3D tools like Blender and Maya, or imported in a game engine, such as Unreal Engine 5 or Unity.
