About StarCoder and StarCoderBase are Large Language Models for Code (Code LLMs) trained on permissively licensed data from GitHub, including from 80+ programming languages, Git commits, GitHub issues, and Jupyter notebooks. Similar to LLaMA, we trained a ~15B parameter model for 1 trillion tokens. We fine-tuned StarCoderBase model for 35B Python tokens, resulting in a new model that we call StarCoder. Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros Nothing. I never used it. It wasn't what I was expecting. I don't write code. Nor is one allowed to get a refund, or to let someone else use it. Very fast ai code gen. Very detailed. Good for debugging code. I love that you can run code in the app. Cons Finally I warned them that I would bring it to Better Business Bureau. Although their email says to contact them with any membership issues, they did not get back to me. It seems very hard sell for them to allow a five day order and then not be flexible with getting a refund if a mistake was made. Basically, it's stealing. I used it for a couple of hours one day, then I pay over $300 for a program I can't use, and am not allowed to sell to anyone else. They also say that there's a limited number of people they are allowing a membership. Again this is crap, it's just hard sell nonsense. They give everyone a membership. They like money. Expensive but I think still worth it for me because I code for my job.
