About

Cerberus Testing is a low-code software testing automation enabling continuous testing at scale. Using the solution you can remove years of implementing an internal testing framework. The product enables you to quickly iterate through your testing lifecycle, from test repository, execution, reporting and analytics. The solution allows the collaboration of the teams from the use-cases definition to the test case execution on the variety of browsers, devices, apps and APIs. You can leverage your own or external robots infrastructure to execute your test at scale, enabling you to focus on your business value. It supports various integrations for speed of implementation such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, Slack, Kafka. It is available and maintained in open-source by various digital and retail players such as La Redoute, Decathlon, Adeo, and Norauto.

About

Testim is the fastest path to resilient end-to-end tests—codeless, coded or both. Testim lets you create amazingly stable codeless tests that leverage our AI, but also the flexibility to export tests as code. You can leverage Testim’s modern JavaScript API and your IDE to debug, customize or refactor tests. Store them in your version control system to keep them in sync with branches and run tests on every commit. Run parallel, cross-browser tests on our test cloud or Selenium-compatible grids while integrating with your CI and dev tools to run smoke tests on pull requests, end-to-end tests on release candidates, or full regression suites on a schedule. Customers like Microsoft, Salesforce, NetApp, Wix, and JFrog run millions of tests on Testim each month. Learn more on our website and sign up for your free account!

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Cerberus is an automated functional testing tool that helps testers run manual and automated tests to identify errors contrary to the expected results of the application under test. It allows testing of mobile apps, desktop software, webpage and API (web service). Why is Cerberus the best testing tool? Technical and non-technical testers can use Cerberus. We can test desktop as well as web applications or mobile application and web services. Very convenient for playing tests on different countries / environments. Easy to set up and run tests. Ability to link to bug tracking software to ensure optimal bug monitoring. Ability to configure it with continuous integration and to launch tests automatically at any time and without interruption. ability to configure notifications to stay informed of test results in real time.
  • The tests are simple to set up. Anyone can use it. Ability to do API testing. Ability to do mobile tests. A data library integrated into the tool. The variabilization of data in the tool. The reactivity of the community.
  • Cerberus is a test automation solution and easy to learn. You can create test cross browser for mobile and web applications. There is API testing too. You can create steps fast due to low code library. If needed you can add JS or groovy scripts. Test campaign automatically can be easily trigger with api or by cron task included in Cerberus The report is well designed and cleared. It allows easy bug tracking with Jira for example.
  • An open source mature solution for many use cases on web, mobile or heavyweight applications with a unified interface that allows both functional and technical teams to work together on quality concerns.
  • Easy to setup and to use, there is some smart tutorials. No constraint on number of users, nor on execution number. A lot of functionalities for all kind of testing (API, iOS, Android, Web....etc). Easy to maintain. Open Source.

Cons

  • Automatic tests are quickly executed, duplicated but remain less precise than manual tests, automated tests allow to eliminate human errors, in short we test what we have preprogrammed quickly and efficiently but not more than that!
  • The tool offers a lot of services but the documentation does not detail everything.
  • The API testing can be improved. Currently its basic API testing. It can be improve with the JSON schema testing.
  • A learning curve that could be a bit long, but with the support of an active community.
  • There are a lot of actions and controls, but it could be good to have the possibility to extend them with plugin for example.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The AI features were genuinely helpful. I used the 7-day free trial as a data analyst and web development student to test my major project (an e-commerce website). Testim quickly helped me catch bugs and logical errors that I had missed during manual testing. The smart locators and AI suggestions made it much easier to create and run tests without writing a lot of code. For someone who is still learning web development, this was a big advantage. Recording tests felt natural and the results clearly pointed out issues in the user flow and logic
  • What I liked most about Testim during my trial is how quickly I could understand the basic workflow for creating UI tests. The interface is fairly easy to follow, and I liked being able to see test steps visually instead of working only with code and logs. It made experimenting with browser-based testing much more approachable for me.
  • 1. Automation and AI significantly reduces the time spent on diagnosing failures. 2. Unlike complex tools like Selenium, it is is easy to work with and tests can be conducted much faster. 3. It prevents duplicate steps by automatically flagging redundant steps and giving suggestions.
  • Testim makes it easy to create and maintain automated test cases without spending too much time on coding. The interface is user-friendly, and the AI-powered element identification helps reduce test failures caused by UI changes. It has helped our team speed up regression testing and improve overall test coverage
  • Testim is very much user friendly and efficient automation testing platform, allowing users to switch from manual testing to scalable automated workflows. Major plus is no-code platform for test creation, making it accessible to all QAs and developers and even beginners with limited programming experience. Its capabilities around AI powered smart locators and self starter are robust, making test remains stable even when user interface changes. Its visual editor, record-playback feature and clean interface is helpful. Lastly, its integration with GitLab allows teams to embed automated testing into released workflows.

Cons

  • The free trial is only 7 days, which feels short if you want to thoroughly test a full e-commerce site with many pages and flows. I would have liked a bit more time to explore advanced features and larger test suites. Pricing after the trial is not clearly shown, so it’s hard to know if it would fit a student budget long-term
  • Some of the more advanced features take time to understand, especially if you are still learning automated testing. Since I am currently using the trial, I also cannot fully judge the long-term value or pricing yet.
  • 1. Lack of Price transparency. 2. Pricing and features target Enterprise Customers. Thereby making it less practical for small businesses.
  • Some advanced customization options can take time to learn for new users. The pricing may also be a bit high for smaller teams or organizations with limited testing budgets.
  • Testim is perceived as slightly on higher side in terms of pricing. This can discourage individual users, SMEs, or budget-conscious teams. Sometimes, the execution slows down when handling large suites, multi-tests or high complex workflows. More enhanced version of debugging, deeper network level visibility and improved search within test repos can improve overall platform functionalities.
