About

Bruno is an open-source, local-first API client for exploring, testing, and documenting APIs. With native Git sync, offline data storage, and no cloud dependencies, Bruno offers developers a secure, fast, and open alternative to bloated API platforms. Trusted by 150 k+ daily users and loved by 37 k+ GitHub stargazers. Pure API Client — Bruno is not a platform or cloud SaaS. It’s a lightweight desktop app focused purely on exploring, testing, and documenting APIs — no unnecessary clutter. Local-First Security — All your data and collections stay on your machine. Nothing is synced to a third-party cloud, ensuring complete control and compliance. Native Git Sync — Collaborate and version your collections using the same workflows you already use for code — pull requests, branches, and diffs — with no proprietary lock-in. Open Source & Extensible — Backed by a passionate community, Bruno evolves transparently, with frequent contributions from developers across the world

About

CodeRifts is signed, offline-verifiable authorization for API-contract changes. Before a change to an OpenAPI, GraphQL, protobuf, AsyncAPI or MCP tool contract merges, deploys or publishes, CodeRifts decides whether it is authorized and signs the decision into a receipt that anyone can verify without CodeRifts — MIT verifiers in JavaScript and Python, no API key, no database to trust. A GitHub required check makes the decision enforcing: without a valid receipt for the pull request's actual diff, the merge is blocked. MCP tools, an SDK and a CLI let AI agents ask before they change a contract; the agent branches on one field, execution_action. Breaking-change detection, risk scoring and policy checks are the analysis underneath, free for public repositories. Every decision states what it does not prove. Only a granted change can proceed. Supports GitHub App and Actions, GitLab CI (API derivation), CLI, REST API and the MCP protocol.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Bruno doesn't store (steal) my information via the cloud. I can work locally, and more importantly with Git. We used to struggle trying to version Postman collections in Git because they intentionally make it difficult so you buy their $$$ paid version. Bruno does this all natively as everything is just a text file.

Cons

  • There are some UI/UX issues, but nothing that derailed me from making it my daily driver
