About

BatchGeo is a web-based tool that allows users to quickly and easily create maps from location data. With BatchGeo, users can take a list of addresses or coordinates and turn them into a customized map that can be shared with others. The service is often used for business purposes, such as creating a map of customer locations or sales territories, but it can also be used for personal purposes, such as mapping out a road trip or vacation itinerary. To use BatchGeo, users simply upload a spreadsheet of location data or copy and paste it into the tool. BatchGeo then geocodes the data, meaning it translates the addresses into latitude and longitude coordinates that can be plotted on a map. Users can customize the map by adding labels, markers, and other features, and can then share the map via a link or embed code. BatchGeo also offers features such as the ability to search for locations and calculate distances between points on the map.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I use it to keep track of my club's membership to show where everyone lives and how much area they are spread over. Lots of fun for our group to see where everyone lives.
  • Very simple and straightforward, please don't change. I like how you can number the points on a map.
  • Easy to use and effective for its purpose. You can drag and drop from excel to build your map and the share it with your friends.
  • It works well. You get everything you need. I use it all the time for work. It's very easy to use and clear.
  • Easy to upload locations and addresses. Easy to view output on a map. Let's you see outlying locations.

Cons

  • I can't really think of any cons. Nothing I have ever done with the product has ever created any problems.
  • Zooming in and out is a bit funky. It's either too zoomed in or too zoomed out.
  • None. I have nothing bad to say about it. My experience has been good.
  • It could number the locations to make it easier to see the different ones.
  • It would be great if it let you select a group of locations and listed the mileage/distance to reach all of them.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Data rich, function rich and easy to use. I've used multiple GIS software over the years and still find Maptitude very hard to beat and very inexpensive when compared to some of the key GIS players out there.
  • Maptitude is a full-featured GIS, yet it is also easy to use. The publisher makes excellent training materials available for free, including videos and an on-line manual with many worked examples. Maptitude comes with a wealth of bundled data, so it is easy to get mapping right away. There is also a powerful scripting language under the hood that can be used to write plug-ins, though it's worth noting that lot of functions that typically require plug-ins in other GIS software packages are part of the Maptitude base install. User support (free for the first 60 days, available as a subscription service thereafter) is very responsive and knowledgeable. Free (limited to non-commercial use) 1-year academic licenses available for students.
  • Feature-rich Desktop GIS with unparalleled functionality in spatial analytics. Gigabytes of demographic and land use data accompanies the software. A knowledgable tech-support team that is always responsive. Innovatiion-driven with new functionality being added all the time
  • It allows me to offer quality advice to logistics consulting clients about the geography of their logistics requirements - that could be at country level, a local van operation or store catchments for dark store and microfulfilment operations: facility location, drive time zones, visualising flows. And there are also features that are really useful for field operations and sales & marketing.
  • Easy to start with Great analytical features Lots of available data sets Great for visualization Works great with other mapping tool formats Free trial

Cons

  • I'd like to see more interactive functionality along the same lines as the business intelligence systems. Being able to update graphs on-the-fly for example based on a selection of geographic features would be very useful.
  • Caliper redesigned the interface a few years ago, and moved some of the items I used most deep into the menus. The new interface probably provides navigation for a brand-new user, but I personally liked the old arrangement better. Maptitude doesn't have as large a plug-in library as other packages (but see the pro above regarding plug-ins).
  • Automation of tasks through scripting might be made for user-friendly.
  • Nothing ...this is the most difficult box to complete as I really don't have a bad word to say.
  • Expensive license. Lots of advanced features have steep learning curve.
