About

Malware, user errors, or hardware failures often spell the end for important files. Therefore, it is essential to create regular backups to have a safety copy to fall back on in case of an emergency. Discover how BackUp Maker simplifies the process of data backup. With BackUp Maker, you simply select the data you want to secure, configure automation if desired, choose the destination, and your documents are reliably backed up - either scheduled or based on specific events. Your data lands safely and compactly in zip format on hard drives, USB sticks, or in the cloud. To protect sensitive information from unauthorized access, BackUp Maker offers high-security encryption of up to 256-bit (AES). Additionally, the program allows for the secure offloading of your encrypted backups via SFTP or FTP/FTPS to a web server. BackUp Maker supports a comprehensive backup concept without restrictions. Secure only new and changed files, create multiple backup generations, distribute backups across various storage media, and perform custom actions before and after the backup.

Why BackUp Maker is Better than Macrium Reflect

For Windows users focused on protecting files rather than creating full-disk images, BackUp Maker is a better fit than Macrium Reflect: its free Standard Edition supports unrestricted private use, while its backup jobs create portable ZIP archives that can be opened with any ZIP utility. BackUp Maker combines scheduled or event-driven backups, incremental backups, multiple generations, AES-256 encryption, and direct destinations spanning local and network storage, removable media, WebDAV, and SFTP or FTP/FTPS web servers. It also works with common cloud-storage folders such as OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox, and can back up smartphone files made available through Windows 11 Smartphone Link.

Pros from Real Users

Pros

  • BackUp Maker has a very clear layout, which is particularly helpful for those new to data backup. The programme guides you effectively through the process of setting up your own backup. Gradually, you realise just how many options the software offers. For example, the backup files can be stored in the cloud with 256-bit encryption or transferred to a server via FTP. The timing and frequency of the backups can also be specified in great detail. Certain events can also be taken into account in this process. Certain processes can be triggered before and after each backup. This can also be done using your own scripts, which are launched by BackUp Maker. However, if you prefer, you can also keep it simple.
  • Simple and easy to install Quick and usefull add/edit of backup sets It just works, works and works again A really great software product

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • There is nothing positive to say about the software. Installation was smooth and easy. But that is to be expected, isn't it?
  • Great for beginners Disk Imaging - Live OS Image creation, differential images Disk cloning Backup utility supporting scheduling Data security features Provides a decent Free Edition for home use

Cons

  • The clone was finished "successfully". Well, the SSD did not even boot. I wouldn't consider this a success. Even worse, the SSD was kind of bricked and couldn't be re-formatted in Windows.
  • It should provide a portable version to run on the target drive. No cloud backup feature , which is essential today.

Protect your critical files, folders, and entire drives from ransomware, hardware failure, and accidental deletion with ASCOMP BackUp Maker. This intuitive Windows backup software simplifies data protection by allowing you to fully automate your backup routines. Select your source data, define customized schedules or event-triggered backups (such as system startup or USB detection), and store your compressed ZIP archives exactly where you need them. BackUp Maker supports local hard drives, external USB storage, network shares, web servers, and cloud environments. To maximize storage efficiency and flexibility, the software offers a comprehensive backup strategy. You can secure only new or modified files (partial backups), maintain multiple backup generations, distribute archives across several media types, and execute custom scripts before or after backup runs.

Secure your sensitive business and personal data against unauthorized access with the robust security features of ASCOMP BackUp Maker. The software ensures that your backup archives are encrypted using professional-grade AES encryption with up to 256-bit strength, keeping your confidential information fully protected. For off-site storage and remote disaster recovery, BackUp Maker allows you to securely upload encrypted backup files to external servers. It fully supports reliable protocols like SFTP, FTP, and FTPS, as well as WebDAV and popular cloud services. By combining high-security encryption with versatile network transfer options, the program ensures your data remains encrypted and safe—both at rest on your local media and in transit during server or cloud offloading.
