About

NotchPixel is a Windows desktop utility that adds a customizable notch-style bar at the top of the screen, bringing frequently used controls and status information into a compact overlay. It provides media playback controls and synced lyrics, notifications, clipboard history, a temporary file shelf, widgets, reminders, app shortcuts, and quick controls for volume, brightness and Night light. Users can also view FPS and system statistics while gaming, capture screenshots and screen recordings, and monitor OBS and stream-chat activity. A local-network transfer feature sends files and text to a phone using a QR code. The interface supports configurable appearance, position, hotkeys and app-specific behavior, while settings and history are stored on the Windows PC. NotchPixel is designed for Windows 10 and 11 users, including people who stream, play games or want desktop tools available without switching windows.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I used the free trial version to show colleagues my Unity AR app while it was being developed (use Zoom screensharing, along with ApowerMirror). This allowed for interactive debugging which wouldn't otherwise be possible remotely. I also liked how the watermark doesn't show up in short recordings (up to 3 minutes on the free trial version).

Cons

  • The lag, man. Maybe it's because my wifi wasn't the best, but connecting via USB C didn't seem to help either. And it's unintuitive how to quit the app on both mobile and desktop.
