About

Castpane is a Windows screen-mirroring receiver that displays an iPhone, iPad, or Mac screen and sound in a movable, resizable window using AirPlay. Users can switch to full screen or audio-only playback, making it suitable for presentations, lessons, and sharing mobile content on a PC. A built-in connection wizard checks common discovery, firewall, network, and adapter issues and explains possible fixes. Castpane also provides a free Mac helper for networks that do not readily discover the PC, plus a browser extension for sending a Chrome or Edge tab with sound. The Windows download allows up to 15 minutes per connection; a one-time in-app purchase removes that limit. The receiver runs on Windows 10 and 11, with no subscription or account required.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I used the free trial version to show colleagues my Unity AR app while it was being developed (use Zoom screensharing, along with ApowerMirror). This allowed for interactive debugging which wouldn't otherwise be possible remotely. I also liked how the watermark doesn't show up in short recordings (up to 3 minutes on the free trial version).

Cons

  • The lag, man. Maybe it's because my wifi wasn't the best, but connecting via USB C didn't seem to help either. And it's unintuitive how to quit the app on both mobile and desktop.
