About

Amp is a frontier coding agent built to give developers full access to the power of today’s leading AI models directly in their workflow. Available in the terminal and popular editors like VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, JetBrains, and Neovim, Amp integrates seamlessly into existing development environments. It enables developers to delegate complex coding tasks, refactors, reviews, and explorations to intelligent agents that understand and operate across entire codebases. With support for advanced models such as Claude Opus, Gemini, and GPT-class models, Amp delivers fast, reliable, and highly agentic code generation. The platform is designed for real-world engineering work, handling multi-file changes, deep context, and iterative improvements. Amp helps developers move faster while maintaining confidence in code quality.

About

Lovable is an AI-powered platform that lets you create and deploy apps from a single browser tab. The platform eliminates the complexity of tradition app-creation environments by combing coding, deployment, and collaboration tools in a single interface. Typically, you must install programs, languages, and packages to build apps. However, on Lovable, you can rely on AI to configure your environment so you can start building without coding experience. The platform supports full-featured development and coding environments for those familiar with coding as well as those who are not, so there’s no limit on what’s possible. - Complete app generation and setup from natural language description. - Code suggestions and autocomplete. - Automated error detection and debugging assistance. - Documentation generation for your app. - App deployment to the cloud in a few clicks. - Database integration and hosting with Supabase native integration. - Custom domain support and connection.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Good integration with Pycharm, unit tests support, solving quickly programming challenges. The biggest pros -> reading whole source code project and proposing the answer based on the rest of the code.
  • Takes the context of your code to give you answers, the vscode extension is awesome and support was incredibly fast when I had an issue.
  • Amp was easy to get started with and it's very intuitive to use. This has been a nice alternative to coding with ChatGPT up in a browser where I have to copy and paste my code back and forth. I'm a big fan of the preset prompts as there are a few I would never have thought of asking.

Cons

  • Not following the pattern in a single chat even. F.ex. if I polish the tests to be using that framework or that way to mock it for one set of tests, for next method, it is forgetting my earlier "style".
  • Sometimes the context is not that accurate, and the latest version came out bugged
  • Not too many drawbacks outside of the general limitations of the AI. There have been a couple of times I've asked it to rewrite code for me and I had to prompt it to get it to give me an example in actual code vs just advice about how to improve the code.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Incredibly fast to build testable prototypes. We changed our workflows entirely away from PRs and Figma, and now always start in Lovable. Have built several projects for internal use cases and about to release our first commercial product. Originally it was only me working in Lovable, now we collaborate across our design team, CTO, and me. Works like a charm, costs me 1% of what I previously outsourced to dev agencies.
  • It can knock up a quick and dirty prototype. Can be quite plain and dull but it’s quick. The ui is nice but nothing that amazing.

Cons

  • Once my project became really complex after about 3000 edits, I found it harder and harder to continue with Lovable. Finished the final 10% in Cursor and with my developer friend.
  • Don’t think you can build a real application with this. It generates code quickly and gets into all sorts of messes. Lots of credits to fix. I really worry firms will look at this and think it is so easy to develop a secure, maintainable, production app. Real developers will be left to pick up the pieces and fix these and the web will be dotted with high risk apps that no one understands how to fix.
