Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Good integration with Pycharm, unit tests support, solving quickly programming challenges. The biggest pros -> reading whole source code project and proposing the answer based on the rest of the code.
  • Takes the context of your code to give you answers, the vscode extension is awesome and support was incredibly fast when I had an issue.
  • Amp was easy to get started with and it's very intuitive to use. This has been a nice alternative to coding with ChatGPT up in a browser where I have to copy and paste my code back and forth. I'm a big fan of the preset prompts as there are a few I would never have thought of asking.

Cons

  • Not following the pattern in a single chat even. F.ex. if I polish the tests to be using that framework or that way to mock it for one set of tests, for next method, it is forgetting my earlier "style".
  • Sometimes the context is not that accurate, and the latest version came out bugged
  • Not too many drawbacks outside of the general limitations of the AI. There have been a couple of times I've asked it to rewrite code for me and I had to prompt it to get it to give me an example in actual code vs just advice about how to improve the code.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Easy multi AI provider, you can use OpenAI, Ollama and others, With Plus you can use Azure GPT 4 and it works fine! You can use Agents AI to interact into the IDE, great job!!!
  • Enhances Productivity: CodeGPT in VSCode can auto-generate code, reducing development time. Intelligent Assistance: Provides relevant and accurate code suggestions based on context, helping developers avoid errors. Continuous Learning: By interacting with CodeGPT, developers can learn new coding practices and improve their skills.

Cons

  • I need it in Sublime text and it would be incredible in XCode!!!
  • CodeGPT might generate responses that are sometimes too detailed or complex, which can be overwhelming for some users. However, this also showcases the API's ability to generate rich and detailed responses, which is a great benefit for many use cases.
