Description

Zhudi is a graphical interface to the CxDICT dictionaries family. Therefore, you can use it with: - CEDICT, a English-Chinese dictionary - CFDICT, a French-Chinese dictionary - HanDeDict, a German-Chinese dictionary - ChE-DICC, a Spanish-Chinese dictionary - EDICT, a Japanese-English dictionary

Features

Zhudi allows you to search a Chinese (simplified or traditional) word and display its pronunciation in pinyin with tones. Plus, it is also able to provide its Zhuyin (Bopomofo) pronunciation. It also provide the meaning of the word. Even if the dictionary family weren't made for a translation from Latin to Chinese, you can still do it if you want.

Zhudi doesn't need access to the Internet for working once you've download a dictionary.

Supported platforms and installation

Due to its conception, Zhudi can be launched under GNU/Linux, MAC OS X and Microsoft Windows.

Installation under GNU/Linux

A general *.tar.gz file is provided so any distribution can use it. Currently, some of them offer Zhudi is their repositories:

Archlinux

Zhudi is available for Archlinux thanks to the [AUR repository](https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=49631])

MAC OS X

Currently, the installation isn't easy but a native installer is planned for the future. Stay tuned!

Microsoft Windows

Currently, the installation process isn't easy and I don't plan to make an installer someday soon. The installation process will be described later.

Licence

This software is under the GPLv3 licence. You can read it in the file entitled "COPYING.pdf". If you cannot read a *.pdf file, you can read the licence contain by using a search engine of your choice.

The dictionaries are under their own licence and you are encouraged to take note about it before using them.
