YouCoded 1.3.1
Claude Code CLI baseline: v2.1.302 (desktop review); Android bundles v2.1.300.
Changes since 1.3.0: built-in Office editing, the assistant's browser, expanded Pages capabilities, a rebuilt Android backend, and improvements to appearance, conversation continuity and performance.
Office editing — desktop
- Create and edit Word (
.docx), Excel (.xlsx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) files inside YouCoded. - Autosave, crash recovery, kept versions, Save As, PDF export and printing.
- Assistant comments on files open in Office go through the editor, so the next editor save does not overwrite them.
- Office editing is desktop-only; Android and remote browsers do not offer the built-in editors. Older Office formats and OpenDocument files are not opened for editing.
The assistant's browser — desktop
- Native and Claude Code conversations can use the same browser tools to read pages, click, type and navigate.
- Follow along or interact yourself in the Browser panel, with tabs, navigation and shared page zoom.
- Browser permission cards ask before interacting with a site, with separate confirmation for final actions such as submitting a form.
- Browser configuration is available in Assistant settings. The assistant's browser is not available on Android or through remote access.
Pages and connections
- Pages can declare approved connections, restricted by host, request method and write paths; permission changes require approval again.
- Added device socket requests, live connections and camera video played by the app.
- A page can open the new-conversation window with a proposed message visible for review before sending.
- Pages can access approved conversation information and run explicitly approved local program files, with file-content checks before execution.
- Added app-style building blocks and a control for showing the theme background behind pages.
- Added Plaid connection support for personal finance pages. Home Assistant and Money dashboards are personal, hand-installed pages, not dashboards bundled with the app.
Android
- Replaced the separate Kotlin backend with the desktop backend running headlessly in bundled Node. The Android shell retains phone-specific services such as file picking, microphone access, notifications and opening links.
- Bundles its own shell, Git, search tools and unmodified Claude Code. Unsupported desktop-only features remain gated by the phone's capabilities.
- The runtime source build currently requires a Linux x64 environment; updated the build documentation with its prerequisites.
- The matching runtime source, patches, build inputs and instructions are distributed as
YouCoded-1.3.1-android-corresponding-source.tar.xzwith its checksum beside the APK/AAB. GitHub's automatic app-source archives do not replace this runtime source archive.
Appearance and interface
- Added YouCoded and YouCoded Night themes, refreshed app icons and a glass buddy look.
- New installations use the new default; existing users who never explicitly selected a theme retain Midnight.
- Floating controls, global Look settings and theme-controlled roundness, with more consistent dialogs, error notices and file-viewer controls.
Models and conversation continuity
- Recommended available plan and OpenRouter models, with improved local-model memory estimates, quantization detection and vision recognition.
- Improved near-limit summarization and restore, preserving recent conversation history and asking before switching to a model too small for the conversation.
- Improved prompt-cache reuse and ChatGPT session routing.
- Provider-specific image limits, downscaling and recovery from oversized-image rejections.
Performance and reliability
- Reduced background work in hidden chats and terminals and made session switching cheaper.
- Streamed code blocks update in smaller pieces; chat redraws adapt to the display rate, and desktop scrolling stays native.
- CSV and XLSX viewers draw visible cells rather than building the entire sheet at once.
- Improved terminal flow control and preservation of output at process exit.
- Phone reconnects refresh theme, pinned pages and session information.
Security and updates
- Tightened remote file and secret access, upload limits and permission checks around sensitive reads and destructive commands.
- Backup staging excludes secrets and protects unmanaged or conflicting local files.
- Linux updates select the installed package format; macOS updates select a compatible architecture.
- Added Azure signing and signature verification to Windows release builds.
Known limitations
- Mac builds retain ad-hoc signing and are not Developer ID–signed or notarized; macOS may show an unverified-developer warning. Developer ID signing/notarization is deferred to 1.3.2.
- DOCX previews use an older bundled XML parser with reported denial-of-service issues. Opening a crafted document could hang the app window; avoid untrusted DOCX files pending the deferred hardening work. No code-execution or zero-interaction exploit was demonstrated in this review.
- Some reopened conversations can show the reopen time rather than the original message time.
- Large-project search is not exhaustive: file discovery can be truncated, and searching inside files stops at 200 matches without continuation. Tracked files can supplement the discovered list; ordinary folder browsing is separately paginated.
- Native personal and project filesystem skills still use
~/.claude/skillsand<project>/.claude/skills. Skills work through those locations; a separate YouCoded-owned skills home is not included in this release.
