A test build of YouCoded, for people who want to try it before the official release. It installs over an existing YouCoded and shares its settings and conversations.
Everything since the last beta (1.3.0-beta.80, 12 September) is in here, plus the fixes from 1.3.0-beta.86 earlier today.
Version numbering changed. 1.3.0 is being skipped: the next official release will be 1.3.1, and betas now count up as 1.3.1-beta. Nothing about the app changes because of this.
Already on a beta? Install this one from youcoded.ai. Betas built before today can't see new betas from inside the app, so this one won't show up in yours. This build has Get beta builds (Settings → Development, or under the release notes in the version pill's update popup); with it on, future betas are offered to you in the app. The headlines:
New
- Pages — a new Pages button beside Settings and Projects. Ask the assistant to build you a page (a tracker, a dashboard, a reference sheet), pin up to four, and open them edge to edge. Desktop only for now.
- Project Files browses one folder at a time, so a project of any size or depth opens without a wait or a limit.
- Sign in with OpenRouter, and a clear message when an OpenRouter key doesn't work.
- Right-click → Paste now pastes a copied image into the chat box.
- First-run setup can start you on a local model or any API key, and fetches Claude Code only if you choose it.
Faster and smoother
- Long lists (conversations, files, the marketplace) draw only what's on screen; switching tabs no longer pops content in.
- Streaming replies no longer redraw the whole window for every word, and background timers only run while something is using them.
- Hover, press and focus feedback across the app.
Fixes
- Expanding the file panel no longer blanks the chat in your other conversations.
- The status bar's numbers stay right after a conversation is compacted; ChatGPT-plan chats no longer say "Claude Code sessions only" on their 5h/7d chips.
- The permission chip always shows the real mode, and the mode survives resuming a conversation.
- A stray Enter can no longer answer a permission card in a chat you can't see; cards start on Yes, never Always Allow.
- Sync never uploads files over the size limit, says so, and its Try again is honest.
- Windows: adding a file to a project that already has a file of the same name could silently do nothing. It now does what you chose.
- Linux: sign-in is recovered when the keychain unlocks late.
- A buddy tucked into a screen edge stays put while something needs your attention.
- Status bar: an Always On section, Git branch off by default, and the announcement can be clicked.
Android
- The APK is stamped 1.3.1-beta.30 — the phone app counts its own builds, so its number is lower than the desktop one. It is the phone build from the same code.
- Pages and Project Files browsing are desktop only. The phone app is behind the desktop; treat it as a preview.
Tested
- All automated tests ran on Windows, macOS and Linux for this build, and each installer was opened once to check its window draws.
Known limits
- Windows and macOS will warn that the app is unsigned — the install pages on youcoded.ai walk through it.
- Rolling back to an older build reverts the code only, not settings or conversations a newer build has already updated.
- Betas from 1.3.0-beta.77 to .80 will be offered the official 1.3.1 when it ships. Betas up to .76 will not be offered anything — reinstall from youcoded.ai once.
