2.1.1
2.1.1 is a single-purpose patch release - it's the version to roll back to if you need to back out of 2.2.
- [#6248]: 2.1.1 can read transactions written by 2.2 nodes. 2.2 writes transactions to the log in a new format that 2.1.0 doesn't recognise, so a 2.1.0 node started against a log that 2.2 has written to stops ingesting at the first 2.2 transaction. 2.1.1 reads both formats (and still writes the 2.1 one, which 2.2 reads), so it can pick up from where your 2.2 nodes left off.
A few caveats if you do roll back:
- Patches submitted through the Clojure/Java
patch-docsoperation on 2.2 aren't applied by 2.1.1 - SQLPATCHis unaffected. - Transactions using SQL that's new in 2.2 will fail on 2.1.1.
- Bring the whole cluster back to 2.1.1 rather than running 2.1.1 alongside 2.2 nodes for any length of time.
Otherwise, we'd recommend staying on (or moving to!) 2.2 - if you're having to roll back, please do get in touch so that we can help you get back onto 2.2.
Cheers,
James & the XT Team
