XFLR5 includes the xfoil program for foil analysis, and several 3d analysis methods for planes :
- a non-linear lifting line method for standalone wings
- two vortex-lattice and a 3d panel method for the analysis of aerodynamic performance of wings and plane operating at low Reynolds numbers
The latest v6 version introduces stability analysis of planes.
Good learning tool and keeps getting better. It takes some effort to get all the features figured out but is a good tool to have.
Absolutely perfect for conceptual design purposes.
A must-have software for any kind of aeronautics research. Really easy to use even for students learning aircraft design for the first time. I like how it simplifies a lot of interface but provide detail settings and information at the same time.
Great project. The program is easy to use, and gives very similar results as other VLM software. Improved body modelling, the possibility of configurations with more bodies or a full 3D panel method would be great. It would be a good feature to plot control derivatives in the function of control surface deflection, and/or to import control derivatives to CSV or DAT files. Anyway, I'm very thankful to the developers, the program helps a lot in my studies and in my work :)
Very nice project. It has changed my life as an aeromodeler. :)
