X3DOM is a framework for integrating and manipulating (X)3D scenes as HTML5 DOM elements that are rendered via WebGL. The system allows defining 3D scene description and runtime behavior declaratively, without any low-level JavaScript or GLSL coding.

  • Thanks for X3dom, it's the best!

  • An excellent piece of software. X3D has advantages over WebGL for those of us who do not live-and-breathe 3D and yet need to present 3D content in a browser -- but current plug-in offerings for X3D are sparse and problematic. X3DOM gives you the cross-platform open source aspect of WebGL, but with the ease of X3D. Implementing interactivity with other HTML components is simple and intuitive. One caveat: It is not quite a completely full-featured X3D implementation, and I've already come across a couple of non-trivial bugs. They can generally be worked around, but don't expect necessarily to be able to take a scene you had working in an X3D viewer and drop it into X3DOM and have it work right off the bat. Depending on what you are doing, some finagling may be necessary.
  • it simply rocks the hell out of your (modern) browser and has kick-a** potential for 3D visualization.
  • Adding amazing capability to HTML5 Web programming. Awesome.
  • Great work!
