for Yoga4d language version 8.1

Date of release: September 22, 2003

Creator of language: Stein von Reusch,
webmaster@wintuition.net, yoga4d.com, yoga5d.com and yoga6d.com

This is a release for early developers; rather sparse docs; much fun though. Things work.
You get a full Perl version, a full Perl/Tk version, and a full Java 1.1 applet version with 3d,
all running the same programming language, in addition to a full Perl CGI version, running it
on the server, with no apparent bugs. This just begs for further swift developments, more ports,
more documentation, higher-level functions, and optimalisation of the Perl version by hashed
vocabulary search and function array instead of if-elsif-elsif-etc for basic functions.

The Yoga4d language has Forth as a kind of forerunner, and has much in common with the spirit
of Perl, as launched successfully by Larry Wall in his many talks. It is stackbased, but in
a novel way, and its uniqueness lies not only its compactness but in what will be released
in the next versions. It is a result of many unpublished versions developed for years, that
is why we skip versions 1-7, and go directly at 8.0, 8.1 etc. The number 8 is also optimistic,
this is a language that has come to stay, and which eventually can touch mathematical issues
on infinity (I am working on a ph.d. thesis entitled "The psychology of computation" in which
Yoga4d is the mathematical language of choice; in which equations can be understood psychologically
as well as in terms of their computational significance on a computer).

YOGA4D VERSION 8.1

The language, with its full name Wintuition:Net Uncomputer Yoga4d,
is created by Stein von Reusch
and is hosted at www.sourceforge.net/projects/wintuition-net
See www.wintuition.net for online test and relevant magazines and links

The GNU General Public License (see www.gnu.org) package contains primarely this:

readme.txt Always fun with self-reference, remember Goedel
wn.pl Which runs Yoga4d at the command line, pure text (perl wn.pl)
wntk.pl Which runs Yoga4d with sth the nearly perfect ptked on top,
in a very useful development GUI (use ActiveState Perl for instance)
y4dinfo.txt Which is opened by the former file as practical information file
hi.y4d Which is opened by the former unless file specified (perl wntk.pl MYPROGRAM.y4d)
wnur.cgi Which runs y4d giving CGI headers and, instead of keyboard, taking input from GET/POST
wn.java Which is a really fast version of y4d at Java with seamless 3d
See the earliest release at sourceforge.net for additional references on the source
new.jpg Some party-happy background photo I've snatched from the Internet, used by wn.java
tutorial.html Well 'tutorial' is in this case not to be taken in its literal meaning ;=)

The java file is best compiled with Sun Jdk 1.1.8 for all-browser compatibility (use -nowarn option).
Can also perfectly well be compiled with a later Java version, but be mindful that things like Classic OS
Macintosh Internet Explorer may only be able to run the version compiled with 1.1.8 (ask Sun/MS why)

The class files are all on one directory and they are not bundled into .jar because that's the
easiest way to get them to run in contexts such as www.geocities.com etc.

Two areas to be covered better in version 8.2 are file i/o and text handling; additional port also come.
Stein von Reusch, webmaster@wintuition.net Consult the Wintuition:Net:Pro Business Edition periodical.

Linux users: I must confess that, despite all my idealism, I am presently running the whole shebang
on a Windows 2000 system, Perl and Java and so on; if there are any particular Linux issues, please
point them out, along with the solution, if you have them, too. Tks. I'll also enable Linux for myself
as some sponsors come up with extra resources for the Wintuition:Net projects.

Alright folks,
Let's win by intuition!
