  • This is an excellent project and I hope to use this software for my academic and training projects due to it's ease of use, simplicity and above all being an opensource software. Keep up the good work and please develop it further with more features. I am using Version: 0.3.37 and in that, title text can not be entered. The moment the text is entered in the text box, the program crashes. Please look into this issue.

I'll look into it. Thanks for reporting.
  • Thank you very much for the program distributed under a free open license!
  • First of all i love your software and been using it for years. There is however a bug i keep having since about a month. I havent been editing anything else than my Red Dead Redemption 2 recorded PC footage (via Windows Game App in mp4 format) and some movies when put on the timeline are shorter than they are in reality. They are blocked from expanding further. For example - the movie is in fact 11 minutes but when moved to timeline from the library the ending is locked at 6:30 and you cant stretch it to be longer than that. Happens only with some files, others work fine. If needed i can upload the movie (800mb) to wetransfer and send a link. Thanks in advance for looking in to it and keep up the fantastic work. It would also be great to get the option to apply color filters to movies like sepia or B&W in the future.

Hi, Thanks for the feedback. If you could send me the file that would definitely help.
  • I cannot use the program without it crashing

Could you provide additional info on the crash (sending a debug report would greatly help). Information about your platform/type of videos used/etc.?
  • For my o best. Simple, eficcienty, functionally and Portable! Good Work.
  • Nice video editor with all the base features included. I recommend it as well as Mp4 Video 1 Click for Windows to perform conversion or encoding operations.
  • Cette application est une tuerie. Tellement simple d'utilisation, Drag&Drop, Timeline et tout le toutim. Il ne lui manque que la traduction en français et un redimensionnement des éléments plus précis pour les petites durées. J'adooooore !!!
  • Vidiot is a very good free video editor, just in the middle between moviemaker and professional softwares. A lot of things can be done, easy to learn, although the ui can be improved on clip properties adjustment, and some functions are a little hidden. Many file formats accepted for imports or outputs. Already a great job, I hope it this will continue to progress.
  • This software is the worst Adobe Premiere clone I've ever seen.
  • Sorry the missing DLL was due to some Microsoft KB issue with the VS 2015 runtime. Not the author's fault. Making it up
  • Won't start due to a missing DLL. Seriously? Just give me a working installer, jesus.
  • Doesn't work. After figuring out the unintuitive process to open my video file, I successfully shortened it. I tried to "Render" the file since the more intuitive "Save As" or "Export" isn't an option, and it said "Rendering Failed. Failed to Open File." I think I might just have to buy a Mac. This is ridiculous.
  • Cannot produce DVD compliant video.
  • Nice simple software.

  • Very straightforward and to the point. Would be nice if it was able to edit the speed of clips (up to 64x speed would be ideal, especially for those of us who make timelapse videos) Thanks if you read

  • PROS: Drag and drop your video files in (Once you create a sequence), can import AND export in MP4, adjustable fades, opacity controls, no malware, multiple track capability and you can unlink audio and video. CONS: No keyframes. For the casual editor it's not a big deal but for me that makes it unuseable. It also has very few effects. SUMMARY: This is the best free editor I've ever come across. It blows fancier free editors (Which claim to be amazing but aren't) out of the water. It's easy to use (Once you look at the help file. The key bindings section is very informative), edits well, has good export quality. I edit with Premiere Elements 11 but if I didn't have that I would use this.

  • (Version 0.3.8 - 1820) Amazing program. Very easy to use; if you don't understand something just refer to the help file included, it basically most of the program. The timeline feature is very neat. The developer is nice and responsive. :) Could use a few more features though, such as: -Custom input of time for an image/video to be displayed. -Higher framerate support (240 FPS hopefully) -Slowing down of clips to 0.25x / Speeding up to 4.0x

  • Installs fine, then upon launch I get a "Vidiot is not a valid Win32 application". Oh well, looking forward to a version that works on my XP machine.
  • I have years of experience with other video editors. I tried opening a simple AVI with this one, but could not figure out how to get to the expected "timeline" interface. I also tried creating a new timeline from scratch but the program just crashed. (Windows 7)
