********************************** IMPORTANT HINT: There is a bug since v0.8.5 within the POWER module. Therefore you cannot poweroff/on, reboot etc in this version. A bugfix is already available in subversion and will be included in the next release. (for details of the fix see: https://sourceforge.net/p/veman/source/14/ ) Because in v0.8.5 heavy changes are done there can be other problems as well so if you encounter a problem tell me and try if v0.8.4 works for you.. ********************************** Requirements --------------- Because vEMan is based on VMware and other tools you need to ensure that you have the following installed: 1) VMware Perl Toolkit (tested with v5.0u1) http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vcli/ 2) The VMware ovftool (ATTENTION: v2.1.0 doesn't work! Use v2.0 or try any version higher than v2.1.0) OVFtool v2.0.1 at VMware: https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/get-download?downloadGroup=OVF-TOOL-2-0-1 Alternative Google search: http://www.google.com/search?&oq=site:vmware.com+vmware+%22ovftool+2.0.1%22+downloadlink Besides the VMware requirements you need to have some standard Linux tools installed to get vEMan running: - nc (netcat) - yad. yad is a fork of zenity (Homepage: http://code.google.com/p/yad/ - DEB packages available ;o) ) - some vncviewer like tightvncviewer or similar - openssl - bash ;-) - grep ;-) Variables ---------------- Please read the INSTALL file before starting vEMan. You can find a variables file included in this package which you should modify according to your installation. If the file is missing vEMan will create an example file for you. HELP --------------- If you struggle somewhere you can get community help at the vEMan project page on sourceforge.net or at the vEMan Homepage (http://vEMan.nethna.de)
