Requirements --------------- Because vEMan is based on VMware and other tools you need to ensure that you have the following installed: - VMware Perl Toolkit (tested with v4.1) http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vcli/ - The VMware ovftool (ATTENTION: v2.1.0 doesn't work! Use v2.0 or try any version higher than v2.1.0) - The script listVMByFolder.pl (will be replaced in the future) http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-10059 Besides the VMware requirements you need to have some Linux tools installed to get vEMan running: - nc (netcat – should be installed on really every Linux. If not you should be able to install it from your distribution) - yad. yad is a fork of zenity introduced by Ubuntu but can installed on other Linux systems, too of course (Homepage: http://code.google.com/p/yad/ - There are Debian/Ubuntu packages available so don't worry ;o) ) - some vncviewer like tightvncviewer or similar (must provide the command “vncviewer” or you need to change it in vEMan) Variables ---------------- You can find a variables file including this package which you should modify according to your installation. If the file is missing vEMan will create an example file for you. HELP --------------- If you struggle somewhere you can get community help at the vEMan project page on sourceforge.net or at the vEMan Homepage (http://vEMan.nethna.de)
