The VDDDNS may manifest on any site as a root node with any number of subnodes. End-users make a request to the VDDDNS daemon( VDDDNSd ) and the daemon returns the last known ip address associated with that address.
It may manifest in multiple modes depending on the size of the application, the modes will be outlined on the wiki.
- Uses HTTP to resolve virtual domain names.
- vDNS system may be destributed across several nodes provided there is a known root node.
- Nodes may mirror each other.
- Clients cache destributed nodes, and only query the parent node if resolution fails or is incorrect.
