  • When working with Ubuntu Server (no GUI) unixtree makes navigating the directory structure very easy. You almost have to be careful not to forget how to use "cd" and "ls". The only basic negative is that it can easily become a crutch. That said, don't become too dependent on it and it is a great user-friendly file and directory viewer. You can do most basic command line operations within unixtree if necessary. One caveat, when using unixtree via SSH, don't force-close the SSH session without quitting unixtree. It will try to consume all your processor time and you will have to kill the process. It also doesn't work in screen sessions.
