Summary

  • CIS (Common Information Service) is an information service developed for UNICORE6 representing Grid resources using GLUE2 as underlying data model.
  • CIS-Core: Also called aggregator service, this is the main service, aggregates the information from different CIPs monitoring respective USites and makes them available to the authenticated clients via UCC. It pulls information as a XML document compliant with GLUE2 schema from registered CIPs, which is then stored and updated periodically.
  • CIP (Common Information Provider): As name suggests, it sits on the Service/Resource provider side and fetches resource information from XNJS, SimpleIDB, and Static Information File (called cipdata.xml), which then constructs GLUE2 compliant XML document and expose it for discovery process.
