TX264 is a GUI for x264.exe. It offers simple but powerful options to encode your videos to mp4 or mkv containers with h264 video and aac, ogg, mp3, ac3 or FLAC audio. If source file contains subtitles, they will be muxed to the destination. You can split output file according to size or time.
- Convert all videos to h264
- Convert audio to aac, ogg, mp3, ac3 or flac
- Mux them to mp4 or mkv
- Copy subtitles to output
- Copy chapter info to output
- Split according to time or size
- Use presets or advanced options
It doesn't have even tool tips, so screw this crap.
Potentially a cool program, but it did not work at all for me. At the end of the encode I see a message in the log file saying output file cannot be found, and the output file is not present in Explorer. Initially I had a problem with the program halting before the end of the encode which the Event Viewer recorded as 'the reference assembly is not installed on your system' (VC90.CRT and VC80.CRT). As it is not possible for someone like me to identify the Visual C++ runtimes required I installed a whole package called Microsoft Visual C++ 2005-2008-2010 Redistributable Package Extended (x86x64). This allowed the encoding to complete, although unsuccessfully . There are no system requirements published and the properties of the executable does not specify an assembly version, but while uninstalling TX264 I noted in the uninstaller log that it installed files to a folder for .NET 4 which suggests that this program is for Windows 7/8 and not XP which I am using.
