README file for Tracetime. The tracetime application runs under Windows. Two pre-compiled versions are available, one for each of 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, with the bits included in the filename. Both versions run as standalone. There is no installer. It can be run directly from a USB memory stick. The mechanism is similar to that used by tracert, but there is no reverse DNS function. Results of a trace can appear perverse - this is inevitable given the stochastic nature of the Internet. The application may appear to hang while it is doing a trace. The application will resume when the trace gets either an ICMP echo or a timeout. The application sends out a trace to the target address once every 10 seconds. If a trace results in timeout, it is excluded from the graph. The timeout is set at 5 seconds. The "browse" button can be used to set a CSV file for storing the results of successful traces. The application was developed using Microsoft's Visual Studio Community 2015. The source files and the Visual Studio solution file are included in the ZIP file.
