***** Deepletterbox TAP for 4:3 TVs. ***** If you are watching a widescreen (16:9) program on a 4:3 TV, then you normally only have a choice of two formats, depending on the AFD value. This TAP gives you the option of 3: 1. 4:3 Center Cut-out 2. 14:9 Compromise 3. 16:9 Deep Letterbox Change between them by using the '0' button. As with the other one, you can unload the TAP by '0' followed by 'EXIT'. This TAP performs better if the "[Af]" or "AFD_Disable" patch is added to the firmware. See that page for instructions as to how to do this. Get it from http://www.toppy.org.uk/~r2-d2/patches.html#Af The [Af] patch works independently of the TAPs, but together they provide a better solution. Now has menu for calibrating the 'shrink factor' and setting the default mode, you will need the TSRCommander or TAPCommander TAPs to get at this. *** Problems: *** * This version works fully for firmwares up to 5.13.65, should also work with 14.02/6/7/8, some functionality for other firmwares. * If the AFD value is 10 (normally found on Channel 4), then the Toppy insists on Deep letterboxing and the TAP will not work unless you also install the "Af" Patch described above to suppress the Toppy's AFD handling. * Sometimes it loses track of the AFD state and you see an over-shrunk picture. You can fix this by pressing '0' a few times, or by changing channels back and forth, or by bringing up and closing one of the system menus. * Like the other TAP, this one will fight with the firmware over the aspect ratio.
