  • Simple, works as intended. Tested on Win 10 x64 on network drives.
  • Bit Defender detects virus. Won't allow download. No support. Project appears abandoned. Will remove this post if a response is generated.
  • *** VIRUS ALERT *** V4.6.0.1 is blocked by Chrome. If overridden, the download is then deleted by McAfee.
  • Searches for files with too long a name, including a path. That's good, but it's only looking.
  • This program couldn't find all long pathes. I used instead cmd /c dir /A /s /b |? {$_.length -gt 255} and got 6 hits more

  • Yea thats okay but its just for one problem. I wanted a more sophisticated and all rounder software. Which this is not exactly. I then tried GS Richcopy 360 which worked very well for me, it has many cool features that one would want from a software.
  • Nice basic utility
  • 5 out of 5 stars for this only program Long Path Tool. Others are definitely not recommended. Try it to believe it. Please use this program and nothing else & I am being serious.
  • so far this is good, but for the same cases, you could try the Long Path Tool. it is one recommended tool for you if you get the error which is caused the path name is too long
  • The Long path tool is the very best program for error, unlock solution.and it is very useful tool.
  • Posted 03 Sep 2016: Downloaded this version (named 'Last Update: 2013-04-15') and installed on Windows 10 (64-bit) version that is AFTER Anniversary Edition which has caused so many problems with software. The version I have now is the update after that, fixing most problems, Windows 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.105. This TLPD utility for finding filenames that exceed or are close to the Windows 255 character limit is excellent. It could not be simpler. It does not install, only runs as portable. Run it, either select 'Yes' to check all drives or 'No' to select a path or individual drive to check. Then select a 'Threshold:' and enter a number of characters that you do not want the path and/or filename to exceed. If the default '200' characters creates too large a list, start to narrow down the longest names by selecting 230 or 240 characters, for example. After it completes (very quickly) it will open a Notepad text document listing the paths and filenames that exceed the number of characters you specified in 'Threshold:'. Using that list, simply navigate with Windows Explorer (aka File Explorer) to the file or path and change the name of it to something shorter. Most times they only need to be shortened a little. Thanks to or-ben-shabat for this excellent utility. Note: I ONLY USE TLPD because there are other utilities that search for and then automatically re-name files and paths that are too long. There is no way I would let a utility shorten these characters on its own. It could possibly break a program or operating system by re-naming critical paths and/or filenames. To be safe, I manually re-name only user data files such as movies, pictures, documents, music files, etc. For example: I re-name a file that was detected by TLPD named C:\My Pictures\Big Long File Names\Folder Number 1\Dog Pictures\vfhsog7653yt\ghiehv73584yqghh\q7vqahgvht7qw\4hvgbheht7hvubhgh\sughg745y7\ghvue\hg7hqghverh\vfhsog7653yt\ghiehv73584yqghhq7vqahgvht7qw4hvgbheht7hvubh\ghsughg745y7ghvu\ehg7hqghverh\Ugly Dog.jpg to vfhsog7653ytg.jpg or even C:\My Pictures\My Dog Pictures\My dog at Halloween dressed as a monkey.jpg. Stupid example, but you can do it like that. .
  • Use Long Path Tool,it works efficiently. Long Path Tool can simplify and probably end your problems in unlocking, managing and renaming files that appear to have a long filename.
  • TLPD is good software and very useful. We can use "Long path tool" for deleting the long path unable delete file.
  • Long Path Tool is a best software to solve this issue. 5++ Rating. Long Path Tool is a best software it is a free software. You can Try it
  • simple, light and works! outputs to .txt nicely used it many times
  • Excellent, useful tool, elegantly simple to use. Will search ALL directories on ALL drives by default, or the user may choose to navigate to an individual folder path; also offers the option to choose the number of characters ("maximum threshold") of the full path length user wishes to check for. All in all, this small-footprint utility is as handy as a shirt pocket..."Support" rcv'd only a "Just OK" (3) rating from this user, but truthfully, the product & it's use is so straightforward that none should be required
