TIVAR can receive and decode multi-language text and images using analog AM, FM, or Shortwave receivers.
The audio from a radio receiver is coupled to an Android device either through the built-in microphone or by a physical connection (audio patch cord).
The software then decodes the modem-tones into readable text and save-able images.
These new digital transmissions are currently sent by a few shortwave-frequency stations:
W1AW
VOA Radiogram
Mighty KBC
These digital broadcasts can be received successfully even when the received signal is too noisy for spoken-word news and information to be heard. This is a result of very strong Forward Error Correction used on the digital signals.
TIVAR can decode the following modes (more to be added)
* MFSK
* PSK
* PSKR
* Olivia
* MT63
* THOR
