{\*\generator Msftedit 5.41.21.2506;}\viewkind4\uc1\pard\lang1033\f0\fs20 Welcome to Tilez!\par
\par
This is a scrabble-like game for up to four players that supports most known languages: all those whose caracters are listed in the UNICODE set.\par
\par
All dictionaries are packed as plain unprotected text, so anyone can create or modify these files.\par
\par
INSTALLATION\par
Tilez! does not need to be installed. You can create any directory on your HD or alternate device and place the exe-file together with the dictionaries files that you most prefer.\par
\par
You can download all or some of the available dictionaries. Tilez! does only search for dictionary files in its own directory or subdirectories. Dictionary files must have a .DIC extension.\par
\par
A shortcut pointing to the .exe file can be created on your desktop for fast access.\par
\par
HOW TO START\par
Run the .exe file or double-click your manually created shortcut.\par
To select from the available languages, click on the omega (\f1\fs26\u937?\f0\fs20 ) button, and choose from the listed items.\par
To set up players, click on the windrose button, and move the slider as follows:\par
* for north/south player, to the right to increase level, to the left to decrease level\par
* for west/east player, to the top to increase level, to the bottom to decrease level\par
Each notch represents a different level. Levels range from 1 to 9. Level zero means player is absent.\par
Game starts when at least a player is assigned a nonzero level. Who plays first is randomly determined.\par
\par
BASICS of PLAY\par
Computer players will place words, pass turn and grab or exchange tiles automatically.\par
When it is your turn you can:\par
1. Drag tiles onto the board to build words. Detailed score will be shown on status bar when your move is legal. Challenged words will have a question mark added by the end.\par
2. Take tiles back to your rack or relocate them on board.\par
3. Double-click your rack to consolidate the current word on board and add the score to your bill.\par
4. Discard any tiles of your choice when you are unable to play.\par
After you confirm your word or exchange tiles, you must keep grabbing tiles until your rack is full or no more tiles are left on the carpet.\par
\par
PASS & EXCHANGE\par
You cannot pass or exchange if any of your rack's tiles is placed on board.\par
There is no big difference between pass and exchange: to pass, just discard any tile and pick it back to your rack again; to exchange, make sure you get rid of all unwanted tiles before you start picking new ones.\par
\par
ASSISTANCE\par
To quickly unplace all of your tiles from the board press the undo button (blue arrow picture).\par
To have the computer display all legal words press the hint button (tools picture).\par
To browse the game history press the drop-down arrow next to its button.\par
\par
AI ENGINE\par
The artificial inteligence engine is launched at each players' turn, even for human players.\par
Hint button will not report results until background processing is finished.\par
Watch progress bar to learn about the AI engine status.\par
Please note that the engine is NOT available for empty dictionaries, so all players are human.\par
\par
GAME OVER\par
Game ends when a player uses all tiles from his/her rack and there are no tiles left to pick.\par
Game is also finished when, there are no tiles left to pick and all players pass consecutively.\par
\par
TO START A NEW GAME\par
Either click on players setup and select same or new players...\par
Or click on language setup and select same or new language.\par
You do not need to wait for a game to end to start a new one.\par
\par
PLAYERS MANAGEMENT\par
Any player can join or fold the game at any time. To have new players joined, assign them a nonzero level. To have existing players folded, reset their levels to zero.\par
Players quitting the game will be folded before attempting to join the new ones, so that their tiles are returned to the carpet and are available for the newcomers.\par
Players join the game in this sequence: West, North, East, South, provided there are enough tiles left for them.\par
\par
HOW TO MAKE LANGUAGE FILES\par
You can easily make new language files (or DICs) if you copy an existing one; all you have to do is change the name, distribute the tiles and decide if you will include words.\par
Tiles distribution pattern is XYYZZ where X is the unicode character, YY is the count of this tile and ZZ is its value, for example, A0801 means there are eight As valued 1 point each.\par
At least a blank tile (space character) must be included.\par
Every word must have at least two letters but no more than fifteen and also a number from 1 to 9 (level) must precede it.\par
Words containing characters not listed in tiles distribution will be ignored.\par
\par
One language can have many file versions for customized play, for example:\par
simplified spanish (excludes \'e1\'e9\'ed\'f3\'fa \'fc)\par
standard spanish (includes \'e1\'e9\'ed\'f3\'fa \'fc)\par
simplified french (excludes \'e1\'e9\'ed\'f3\'fa \'e0\'e8\'ec\'f2\'f9 \'e2\'ea\'ee\'f4\'fb \'e7)\par
standard french (includes \'e1\'e9\'ed\'f3\'fa \'e0\'e8\'ec\'f2\'f9 \'e2\'ea\'ee\'f4\'fb \'e7)\par
