New games no longer need a whole launcher download. Upgrade to Ubuntu 0.9.0 once, keeping your existing home/ folder beside the executable. From then on, qualified new games arrive in small game-list packs. Tidycade checks once at startup in the background; Check for new games checks again. Games themselves install only when you choose Install.
23 games are included for offline use. The first live game-list pack adds 0 A.D. 0.28, bringing the list to 24. Its game download is about 1.82 GB. Revision 2 then adds Pegfall, bringing the current list to 25 on the same launcher. The automatic cached-24 to live-25 upgrade, Pegfall images/Credits and an offline restart retaining 25 were checked without rebuilding the client. Images and required notices arrive with each accepted list update. No installed game is automatically updated.
Failed, invalid or older list updates keep the last good list. Existing installed games keep their original launch settings, and saves are not removed. If cached additions are damaged, the included library and installed-game records remain available; recovering additions may need a newer list revision. This is not a promise of automatic repair at the same revision.
Extract tidycade-0.9.0-ubuntu-x86_64.tar.gz, open Tidycade-Ubuntu-0.9.0, then open tidycade-ubuntu-x86_64. No Python installation is needed. Keep the folder writable and your existing home/ beside the executable.
List updates use fixed HTTPS GitHub hosting, exact pack sizes and hashes, and restricted data formats. Packs can add supported Ubuntu game entries, images and notices, but cannot replace existing recipes, run custom scripts or change the launcher. This is trust in the publisher account, not independent digital signing. New launcher features or installer methods may still need an upgrade.
The actual frozen launcher was checked with an empty home folder against the public feed: 23 games became 24 with images and Credits. A later blocked-connection restart retained the cached 24-game list. Separate validation, migration and recovery checks passed. Full game campaigns, audible audio, all hardware and 0 A.D. save/reload are unverified. See README.md and TESTS.md for detailed limits. Windows remains Test 14 and has no separate game-list update feature yet.
The .sha256 file lets you check that your launcher download is unchanged.
